Who would you replace Michael Appleton with?

When Michael Appleton was appointed,we didn't appear to be blessed with a good number of strong candidates.Who would you want if he was to go, bearing in mind our limited resources?

I think Rob Edwards with Richie Kyle as his assistant is a good shout. They weren't available in the summer because they went to Watford. He has done really well in his career so far and is only available because Watford are a crazy club. A young and upcoming coach that actually has a connection to the club.

Edwards or Gary O’Neil who has done a fine job at Bournemouth but rumour has it, is not their long term option. Keen to carry on managing, we could be a great first proper job for him.

Edwards or, if the board haven't alienated him too much already, Evatt.

Also wouldn't object to Mark Warburton if we could lure him this far north.

Needs some serious left field thinking. We are in trouble, defensively shambolic, often unable to hold possession, so even though attackers are undeniably more liberated than under Critchley our ability to get the ball to in form strikers is often limited. We are aslo often incedibly passive, and allow even very poor teams the space to play in front of us which is a risky strategy as sooner or later doing that leads to a mistake.

I cannot see Appleton having a sudden enlightenment and accepting other ways of playing but then I'm not sure he has any defined method of playing, at best it might be that hes giving players the freedom to play their own way. when it works its fantastic, Watford, Sheff utd, preston, Coventry etc. when it doesnt it is truly catastrophic, Hull, Middlesborough, stoke, Burnley for three qaurters of the game, Bristol for a large period, Reading, the second half.

I think he has the players to do reasonably well in this league, Injuries notwithsatnading and a lack of defensive cover which i think he is responsible for by letting Tharme and Casey go out on loan and not replacing Uncle richard.

Dunno what the answer is, trying to help appleton change, bringing in someone to his coaching team, would he even accept it, or just getting rid and starting again. Im not even sure who could or would want to come in of established names, and where do you start with not so established names.

I dont envy Simon Sadler, subject to unfair criticism, his own money at risk, even if you could say he made mistakes appointing Appleton.

What exactly are we looking at any potential manager to do? Just keep us up. Develop our younger players and bring them into the first team. Play the Critchley Way. The Appleton Way. Or some other way?

You didn't answer my question. Were you aware?

Like it or not, there's plenty of our fans who don't like people whose primary association is with the nobbers compared to us.

Irrelevant thread......unfortunately.
Just hope he can hold on to those who are worth keeping (moot) and bring on the development squad to a position where we can compete in League 1

What you should do is line someone up before you sack Appleton that's how football works if you're doing your job properly. The oustanding candidates for me are Rob Edwards with Ritchie Kyle who favour the high energy wing back formation and at least have a connection to Blackpool and not Preston. I can't believe people are pushing for Wilder, a self-serving gobshite who belittled our club last season.

I would accept that pairing !

If I could bring him back from the dead, I would have Brian Clough because he always wanted to win fairly. He wanted to be loved and be worthy champions. If he managed us now he would released Marvin by now and put Madine as our first team coach!

Difficult choice but my list would include...

Nathan Jones
Neil Critchley
Sam Allardyce
Any other youth team coach who's done half decent.
Take your pick 😉👍🏻

Rob Edwards , Ritchie Kyle . Both young, enthused , strong links to the 'Pool and would bring back a bit of fan , club, management continuity , feel good lift.. possibly

I understand Edwards and Kyle are both incredibly well regarded and highly qualified coaches in the same sort of manner Critchley was. I know Kyle was part of the England coaching set up at Burton after leaving us and Edwards was too I think. Not sure if Madine would be willing to switch to the vegan diet the Forest Green players were on though !!

Steven Dobbie at the club already, would getting him involved in some form be appealing? I've always been keen on someone with a previous connection to thr club as it generates buzz and helps sell tickets. Not as manager but assistant. But evatt with someone is good too but unrealistic right now.
