Commentator made the same point, and I agree with both of you. If he had to make a change, bring Casey in at right side for Pennington and play Marv. I know Pennington is better going forward but he's coming back from injury and we struggled with their height and physicality no doubt. Was obvious to me playing Cheltenham that they would launch it & rely on set pieces & long throws.
So surely Marv was essential as he wins most headers & blocks.
Despite his errors he should have started last night, preferably in a
4-4-2.
But Critchley knows best
I'm quicker than Casey. There was a point when their lad went past him like he was running in treacle, and that was in the first half.Commentator made the same point, and I agree with both of you. Lots said Grimshaw was flapping, but that was partly because he was having to get something on every cross, with not enough help. That's where Madine used to make a huge difference for us.
Yeah it was not the best I agree, but I did say if he had to!I'm quicker than Casey. There was a point when their lad went past him like he was running in treacle, and that was in the first half.
As for that shambles when he decided to turn and take on the attacker when he was last man...unbelievably bad decision making and weak with it.
Is this the same Marv that everyone wanted rid of earlier in the season? Was obvious to me playing Cheltenham that they would launch it & rely on set pieces & long throws.

Critchley knows fuck all he’s totally inept. He’s only fit for being somebody’s gofer. Hey Neil stick the cones over there will you and brew up.Was obvious to me playing Cheltenham that they would launch it & rely on set pieces & long throws.

Hes our best defender especially in the air winning most headers. Should have started or at least come on at ht (oh forgot he never changes anything at ht)Is this the same Marv that everyone wanted rid of earlier in the season?
It's always the player that's not in the team that suddenly becomes the answer. Funny old game.
Totally agree!Marv and Casey should have started as our centre back pairing in a back 4. Gabriel and Husband either side.
CorrectMarv and Casey should have started as our centre back pairing in a back 4. Gabriel and Husband either side.
It’s absolutely criminal that a back 4 isn’t being played especially away from home against the big cloggers of the league!Marv and Casey should have started as our centre back pairing in a back 4. Gabriel and Husband either side.
He's our best defender, play to his strengths. No he's not the best footballer but always places his body on the line for the team.Cos he's been diabolical this season is a pretty good reason. Have to say though against a long ball team like them I'm surprised he didn't leave him in.
Didnt even notice Lavery came on!Should have put him on up front and left Lavery on the bench.
Off your head. He hasn’t been diabolical in the slightest. He might have lost possession a couple of times but when it comes to actual defending (last man/ditch defending, heading, one on one’s etc.), he’s better than anyone else we’ve got. And the last couple of months he’s been our best player alongside Grimmy.Cos he's been diabolical this season is a pretty good reason. Have to say though against a long ball team like them I'm surprised he didn't leave him in.
Totally agree. Gobsmacking choice. It’s like the manager chose a team based on who is trading best rather than who is the oppositionWas obvious to me playing Cheltenham that they would launch it & rely on set pieces & long throws.

Confidence from the og’s?always been at the forefront of defending Marv on here and earlier in the season he was making mistakes on a match by match basis and yep as much as i didn't like it i could understand why he was left out. But he got his place back in the team but despite a couple of unfortunate own goals he was playing well and dominating his opponents. No way should he have been left out last night, especially against a team who Critchley would have known exactly how they play.
