Why football fans are a bit mad

Came out of the pub last night and the wind was baltic and I did think how insane are football fans that tonight we're going to sit in that for up to two hours watching 22 blokes kick a bag of wind around a section of grass 🥶☃️❄️

I used to love the really cold days the most when I used to go in the 70's and 80's I have a real "Hovis advert" recollection of the games then for some reason. As you get older the less appealing it is. I remember the day of the infamous Barnet game, I was living in Watford just a few miles away but was working bights, I remember waking up at about 11am to get up and go to the game but the weather was horrible and it was so cosy in bed that I thought "Fuck it" and went back to sleep and with that decision became the only Blackpool supporter in the world that didn't attend.

I once went to Huddersfield's old ground to watch us in some crappy cup game. It was ** freezing, my toes almost fell off.

Freezing maybe but,and maybe you were there, that infamous game when it really did pour down and we ended up in the uncovered end having switched round at half time end getting piss wet through but thinking promotion was about to happen only for,and I still hate them,QPR to pip us in virtually the last kick via an own goal at Villa Park to win promotion by I believe the smallest margin ever on goal difference.
So hopefully it will be QPR and Huddersfield to be 2 of the teams going down and us up via the play offs😂.
If only😂

As for freezing conditions my other half’s Xmas Prezzies this year were Thermal Vests and Long John’s so now I know I am officially very old😀 and worst still I was there when she bought them so it was difficult to look surprised when I unwrapped them on Xmas Day😳.

Wasn't actually that bad last night however you could see from the attendance it put quite a few off and there were a lot wearing gloves which will have impacted on the noise created (which got to be honest wasn't much - think Burton's fans made more noise when they scored than we could muster all night).

The coldest game I remember was a 1-0 win at home to Darlington in January 1982. The pitch was completely frozen. All the players played in trainers and my hot Bovril froze to the West paddock wall.

Coldest I can remember being at BR was a night match against Milwall in 1999 when Tony Caig and Clarke Carlisle ran into each other and knocked each other out. Was so cold that I even dared venture into the Scratching Shed bogs to try get warm!

Coldest ever was a few years later away at Bury when on loan Andy Payton scored for us. The half of the pitch in the shade was still frozen and the game really shouldn't have gone ahead.
