Why is this man not in jail?

This beggars belief.

Absolutely agree.

There are thousands of shysters out there who've made a fortune out of laxness when money was handed out willy nilly by Wishi Washi Rishi.

The new Labour Government are setting up a taskforce to hound these crooks.

I've already signed up as an unpaid volunteer.

Will you join me?

you won't have time. You have too many anger management issues on here to deal with.

Anger?

I'm having a great day. It's nutters like you who make life worthwhile.

Please don't stop posting. I really miss Scaramanga. Unfortunately he went off in a sulk and hasn't been heard from since.

Btw, is there an alternate universe, where AVFTT is populated purely by rwnjs? Might be worth finding out.

My, doesn't he have a nice house to live in. 4-bed detached with huge extension going up and double garage with flat above.
I will not include the address as some may say that could be rabble-rousing. But it’s down south, in Hertfordshire.

While he has properties in the north that repeatedly "go on fire" and companies that invariably go into liquidation. That's the problem with such offences as fraud, difficult to unentangle and prosecute in many cases. And the defrauded live in Hong Kong. So he gets barred from being a director for 13 years. Gee whiz, I bet he could not care less. I am sure there could be a few family members willing to be his proxies for his extant companies to continue..

Last year the government announced it had written off £4.3bn in fraudulent loans prompting Treasury and Cabinet Office minister Lord Agnew to resign. He said the Treasury’s oversight of the scheme had been “nothing less than woeful” and accused officials of “schoolboy errors”, including allowing loans to over 1,000 companies that were not even trading when Covid struck.

Who are these treasury officials? Lord Agnew resigned, did any of the minions in the treasury resign or even get a slap on the wrist? If I had been responsible for any such blunders during my working life, I would have expected to be sacked.

Allow me to direct you to any thread with the abbreviation BLM in its title.

Responsibility lay with the relevant Minister.

Damn I wish I'd thought of it... That is to say disgraceful and dishonest behaviour that I cannot condone, that's what I was aiming for.

So, whichever party is in power the same will apply if mistakes or simple incompetence results in something going wrong?

I've written a little story, and would be interested to see who would carry the blame.

The tree of blame.

A, was a young man who, on leaving school, decided he’d like to work in a kitchen so went to college and was taught how to cook and handle food safely.

He began his career at a rather large multinational factory that produced home meals for many supermarkets and other outlets. A worked hard and hoped to one day emulate his supervisor, B, who had come up through the ranks. He did, however, find the work very boring and repetitive, and at times recently had worked as though in a haze. A human Robot.

B who was responsible for production and targets, trusted A as he had been trained and worked hard. There had been no cause to gee A up or to check him as often as some others on the line.

B reported to the Manager,C, who was responsible for the general running of the factory and all production therein, they met regularly and C trusted B to ensure all was well.

C, in turn, reported to the Head of the factory D, who once again found C to be on the ball and trustworthy, he therefore just, as all good Managers should, ensured that spot checks were made to confirm all was running like clockwork amongst his other work.

The chain of command went to the very top, Z, and until now there had been nothing too important to worry about, a slight hiccup here and there like most large companies, but nothing to write home about. It was no doubt extremely unlikely that Z would know any of the workers at the factory or indeed any of the other dozens of factories. His once in a year occasional visit was all A,B, or C would see of Z when touring the site with D.

Everything went well for a while until one day when A, who was in one of his hazy periods, had to use the loo and in his hurry he forgot to wash his hands, or didn’t wash them properly, he had also re-used his gloves instead of changing them, because he had only had them on for around 5 minutes. So, after using the loo and wiping himself clean, then going straight back to the area in which he worked he had broken a number of rules and regs which were to have a catastrophic impact.

The results were calamitous, fatal, and ruinous, with an outbreak of Hepatitis A and a couple of deaths, in several of those businesses supplied by the company.

The source was traced back to the factory where A worked, all products were removed from sale and, of course, the press was all over it. The factory was closed for deep cleaning and samples of all staff taken. Eventually A was identified as the source of the infection. The cost to the company both monetarily and reputation wise was extremely high and resulted eventually in a number of redundancies due to lost business.

A had apparently been on a holiday to South America and had either been drinking unclean water, eaten food that had been washed or grown in unclean water or had been eating food that had been handled by an infected person, thus picking up the infection himself. He had failed to report his ‘not feeling well’ to B, as he now needed money following his holiday of a lifetime.

Heads rolled, but whose?

A, B, C, D or the man at the top Z.

A was directly to blame and his head should roll. C should have been responsible for all health and safety training and for making sure that the consequences of failure was properly communicated. C was also responsible, together with B, for ensuring that washing facilities were closely available so that employees would not need to leave their station to wash and that a ready supply of new disposable gloves was directly available, together with disposal bins.

Responsibilities work their way up the chain of command and all levels have duties. The difference with Government is that heads of Departments gain their powers through being elected legislators and the money they use is public money.

A very comprehensive answer, with flaws but I wont go into them.

Basically what you are saying then is that the staff, who are paid with public money, are not in any way responsible even if they are incompetent, lazy or just not up to the job?

No, you've had that answer ready before I replied. Public servants can and are dismissed, censored and moved if they are incompetent or fail in their duties. However the responsibility for the disbursement of public funds rests with the politicians. What we've been concentrating on on this site are major contracts of national importance. Those should definitely be managed under the guidance of Ministers.

I used to work with Z. He’d say things like “The Buck Stops Here!!!”. And bang his desk.

The truth was the Buck rarely hit his desk and when it did it was redirected rapidly down the Tree of Blame with much tutting and head shaking.

However if A, B, C and/or D (or any combination of the aforesaid) produced a success, Z was always very quick in claiming exclusive credit.

I am very happy to be retired and to have left that BS behind.

I'll tell you another little story

Once upon a time there was a country called Great Britain. As a hangover from their days of ruling the world, they had various territories and islands at the other end of the Atlantic.

Anyway, the wicked witch cast a spell on the people and managed to get herself elected. The wicked witch wanted to spend less of the country's money on things like research and the Navy, so cut back on ships, particularly one which did some research and kept an eye on the area around these island down south.

There was this group of people who worked for the Foreign Office, as diplomats and spies. They totally missed that cutting back on this Navy ship would send a message to some local troublemakers called Argentinians, that the Wicked Witch didn't care about those islands . The result was these Argies decided to invade these islands, taking all their population prisoner.

There was this chap called Peter Carrington, bit of a toff, Eton and all that. He was head honcho at the Foriegn Office. Now he wasn't a spy, or a diplomat, but, as it was his department, he took responsibility and resigned.

RIP Lord Carrington, the last Honourable Politician ?

Unlike John Knott and Thatcher.

Why is he not in jail? Your answer is all politicians are in on scaming whether it be corrupt business deals, obtaining property through expenses and tax deals, or giving jobs and contracts to friends So if they go after some, then they too are taken down. It's a club I nor you are in. Hence why I ignore politics completely.
