Why isnt Thommo involved at BFC..............

Seems a no brainer for me. I understand Critch and managers before him would have their own backroom staff and I also get Simon cant foist him on managers he employs but for me, the club are missing something not having someone like him at the football club in some capacity.

Is there anyone who currently runs the club know the bloke?
Or is it a look into our history archive book.

I'm 100% certain that SS will look at what's transpired this season and won't want to have a repeat next season.

There will be changes.

I’m certain that he’ll recognise that it’s been a transitional season, understand that progress has been made etc..

There isn’t a cat in hells chance of bringing this ‘so called’ experienced number 2.

The only changes I can foresee will be to the squad itself (hopefully that will include a goalkeeper capable of ‘keeping goal’, which would be a step in the right direction).

You don’t rate either of our senior keepers? I’m a little surprised that the keeper position is being highlighted. I think both Grimshaw & O’Donnell have proven to be capable, particularly at this level. The goalkeeper certainly isn’t to blame for our current league position (in my opinion at least)

Excuse me but have you not just answered your own question?

Yes, let’s bring Thommo back. After all he talks a good game when he’s a pundit ( which some on here wax lyrical about) and he lasted three and a half weeks at Oldham despite the same posters on here saying he would turn their fortunes round.
If he was half decent he would be involved somewhere in some capacity and not sat in a commentary box with Chizzy.
Like a few on this thread have already said, why the obsession with people who have been involved in the club?
And not only that, when any club sign a new manager or player we still get the usual posters who say
“He would be great here”
Anyway, I’ll post this and then get on the phone to Simon and implore him to get Thommo in.

Of course there a cat in hell's chance! He's done it before- TWICE.

We really like Steve T, he's a top guy. When we lived in Bispham, we saw him regularly & he would always stop for a chat.
He's also a great analyst on radio Lancs & clearly has a love for BFC.
However, being a good analyst doesn't make you a top coach & the Nobbers didn't perform well when he was there. He's been away from coaching for a while now & his big strength under IH was his empathy with the players.
NC does need an experienced right hand man - better than the two ex LFC coaches he takes everywhere with him, but he clearly resists this and in any case, I don't think Steve would be the right choice.

Fully agree get Thommo in to assist!
Current management team seem unable to change games when struggling!

He will be aware that fans think he was at his best when the other two were with him so there could be a stubbornness on his part to change his current setup and therefore prove people wrong.

Or he could think why am I wasting money on something that's not delivering when the answer was so simple last time.

Perhaps the question is, why has he not got a job at another football club? Living local and having been involved before, are not reasons on there own.

It was odd the way that he so abruptly left The Knobbers...

It wasn't. They brought in Alex Neil who had his own backroom staff. In his own words to me the writing was on the wall and he'd had a very good and long run with the club up to that point.

Because he’s not needed. Had his time, thanks but he wouldn’t bring anything to the table. The obsession with him is very odd.

You’re utterly clueless

He’s old school, probably doesn’t do power point presentations as well as the non player but highly educated coaches

Critchley has brought in his own men this time. He has no need for anyone else and especially not someone who’s likely to be trying to talk him into another short term fix.

I don’t rate Grimshaw at all no…. If I here “He’s a great shot stopper” one more time about a Blackpool Keeper, I’ll likely explode!!

Stopping shots is the most basic requirement for a keeper and pretty much any professional keeper at any level ought to have that ability as a bare minimum.

We need a keeper who is capable of actually commanding his area. Someone who can come and win a cross instead of being rooted to the spot etc..

A proper goalkeeper for once instead of a make do and mend half a keeper type.

Convinced half of this forum have some weird romantic attraction to Steve Thompson. That’s the only explanation for the bizarre obsession with him.

If you think about it, there's not many left now from the Thommo era.
You get the feeling the BFC links now at Fleetwood helped Charlie and actually am surprised he didn't come in fror Thommo.

What do you mean?? Bringing Matty Virtue on for Norburn in the 78th minute when we're losing is making my pulse race with anticipation every time.

I think he was the glue that kept the team together before during and post Ollie. without him we went into freefall. He earned peoples respect and we don't forget what he brought to the club.

Hasn’t he recently been involved at Oldham? That tells you where he is with his career.

For someone who “loves” Blackpool always makes me laugh the free pass and clamour he gets despite being involved with North End for years, most are immediately judged by that negatively regardless of ability.
