Why wasn’t the Reading player booked?

Agreed we couldn't understand it, did ref just forget??
Reading were poor & physical, but only got 1 yellow for many bad & deliberate fouls.
But we won!

The rules this season are that you don’t get booked it you made a legitimate attempt to play the ball but then give away a pen. You only get booked when no attempt to play the ball is made. The Reading player attempted to get the ball ⚽️ so no yellow card - simples 😊
Good post. I didn't know about the rule change so I was also thinking the ref had bottled it.
Tbf their player was simply beaten for pace by CJ
Clearly a pen, easy decision for the ref, who was consistent as posted already.

I thought the ref was excellent and got everything right for both teams - he also let the game flow. In Rhodes interview he says that the ref said to CJ after his second goal that he would have pulled it back for a pen if Jordan had not scored - great refereeing👍

I noticed that, he was about to blow, let play continue and it was in the back of the net before he had to pull back play. Good refereeing there.

So if you miss the subsequent penalty the player still doesn’t get booked, so he’s got away with a clear foul which anywhere else on the pitch would have been a yellow card all day long.

I thought the ref had a good game, let a lot go that I was happy with but at the same time surprised as the majority of refs at Bloomfield Road would have blown. I was very, very shocked the player didn't get at least a yellow for a pen. I don't think it was last man but clearly denied a goal scoring opportunity whether he went to play the ball or not.

I hardly noticed the ref, which speaks volumes. He was good & that makes a pleasant change from some of the clowns we seem to get

I thought the ref had a decent game. It would have taken the gloss off a very good result if the Reading player had been sent off.
