Wigan v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 16.03.24

It would be just like Pool to score a last gasp equaliser to torture us with hope... Or not.

Risk averse and spineless and that all comes from one of the most qualified coaches in the UK(on paper) What was there to lose, we had an outside chance at best and he reverts to type, aka Vale, Cheltenham, Burton, Orient, have I missed anyone.

FFS I'm suprised he walks out of his front door every day. Set up to fail again. Are any of the teams in the mix scared shitless to have a go?

Wouldn't surprise me if Critch was using meditation as a warm up technique because the entire team were still asleep 1st half

They could have been in a play off slot this evening? Where was the motivation to go out and play?

Seriously, does Critch line up the cones and practice back passing?

Rubbish and simply not good enough to go up

Far to easy to play against

Not enough tempo when building attacks.Look how Wigan build attacks with sharp movement

Our first thought is to turn and go backwards.

Lavery and Joseph fair play for showing some intent

Season is over.... even the games we win we are just boring.

The fecking passing it always side or back.. as Norburn always does.

We are just so boring to watch.

But this finally puts nail in coffin... playoffs gone.. no ifs or butt's...

If only we could be Lincoln.. down to 10 men too

Surely the club have an agreement if promotion, is not completed this season, then he departs, because we can't have this for another season.. absolutely dire!
You’re gonna have to put up with it. Sadler said “If he doesn’t do it this season he’ll have to do it next season “ It’s a mutual admiration society.

Sadler absolutely loves Critchley, there is no way he is going anywhere, Sadler doesn't give a shit what the supporters think. Next season we will finish lower than this but they won't care.

From moving the ball round quickly on Tuesday to the old tippy tappy shite we've been dished up most of the season.
Shrewsbury, Pompy and Northampton results gave us hope only for it to be snatched away today.
I wish there were another 10 outfield players who had the same attacking thinking that Coulson has!!
Grimshaw must have touched the ball more than any other Blackpool player today.
So as not to upset anyone I'll finish with this.
No fight, passion or urgency in a game they had to get something from, still, were only a few points off the playoffs and you never know👍🏻

I always thought we needed three points from Wigan and Derby to stay in the race.

Now we have to beat Derby which is tough but not impossible.

Was not there but are BBC stats right- they had 1 shot on target and we had 3 and 11 shots not on target ??

If so that's not down to fking Critch that's shit players at the top end of the pitch .

I'm not going to start singling out players as I was not there but ffs .
Our play off place has not disappeared but I reckon if most of us had to wager a weeks wage on who will get 6th place we would be behind Lincoln Oxford and Stevenage.

I genuinely thought we might have a chance after Tuesday, but after today I think we have to accept that we are where we deserve to be; a run of the mill mid table league one team. We are way short of challenging the top six - the points tally doesn't show it yet but will do by the end of the season. That's because the manager steadfastly refuses to change anything about us on our travels - formation, intent, style. And when it is painfully obvious it isn't working, he still waits until 70 minutes for a sub. You can't wait that long, you have to make things happen. There's too much passivity in everything we do.

I seriously doubt we'll pick any more points away, and yes that includes at Carlisle. That's because we have no desire to put our stamp on the game and dictate it. We wait to see what the other team have got and hope they don't get an early goal. It's all wrong, and certainly not the mindset of a team that has any ambition of promotion. Not only that, but the stubbornness of the manager and his tactics knows no bounds. We're going to play this way for the entire duration that he's still here. He isn't ever going to change it. It's genuinely mind boggling.

I'd still be up for the challenge of promotion this season if I felt we'd adapt, or saw signs of a change of approach, but I'm afraid it's time to accept that isn't going to happen. Which is a massive shame because this season is a big opportunity missed and we should have done much much better. Critchley wasn't the right appointment and still isn't. And won't be next season either.
