Will The New Manager be Announced This Week?

Did we not have a director of recruitment at the time? The assessment was most likely a conversation with him about the players, and probably a review of whatever records the club keeps on the players.

Any new manager isn't going to want to wait until pre-season is underway before starting recruitment, in fact our best recruitment in recent seasons was the group that came in on 1 July 2021, who'd all been agreed in June.

To be honest, there's been so many comings and goings recently, I've lost track of what backroom staff the club has.

As a last resort, Saddler, in consulation with Dobbie.

Also, where does this Saturday deadline come from?

The decisions seem to be pretty clear-cut, release the players who've not played, exercise the options on the players who have played, for the out of contract players, we can start negotiations, but presumably drag them out long enough so that the new manager can have the final say.

If we end up with one or two the new manager doesn't fancy, we can presumably loan them out elsewhere and recover most if not all of the wages.

The only real question is whether to release Maxwell, both he and Grimshaw are on fairly hefty wages, unless the club expects the latter to leave, then having either on the bench is an expensive luxury in L1, and not IMO a sensible use of money.
Someone said Dobbie, Donnelly and the scout decided the list.

Either way it's done now.
