Worried by lack of transfers?

Anyone worried by the lack of incoming players, everyone we are linked with, joins another team, whether its sallary, training facilities or a hangover from the Oyston years players just dont seem to want to join us. I believe its financial Sadler just hasn't got the money needed to fund a club at this level.

Yet he IS funding a club at this level…

No...I hope we aren't going to have a thread like this every day.

It’s still very early. There hasn’t been all that much business done by many clubs in the championship, although there are a few exceptions to that.

This is a useful link. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/transfers/wettbewerb/GB2

I read something the other day from someone that I believe has good insight into this kind of thing. He that said the market itself has taken a significant downturn. They seemed to think there would be a lot of bargains towards the end of the transfer window as players drop their demands. That’s usually the case but may be even more so this year. Not ideal but would rather the club stuck to their plans and brought the right players in later, than the wrong players early on.

Massive peice of uninformed guesswork,I sometimes wish club officials dont read this message board,it must be a slap in the face to Simon Sadler for all the good he has done for our club reading shite like this.

"players just don't seem to want to join us". Have I missed something here, or do you know something we don't? The club run a tight ship, nothing leaks, everything you see about players is paper speculation. We don't know what's happening on the inside, what players were talking to or chasing etc. For all we know next week we might go and announce 3 great signings. To be worried about a lack of transfer activity when there's still 4 weeks until the season starts, as well as a new manager being in the job for just over 2 weeks seems an over reaction to me.

And to talk about Sadler not having the money is just the most stupid and ridiculous comment, because I'd say 30m on a new stand and new training ground shows some real financial capability.

Sit back, chill out, get some perspective 👍

The big change for me in this transfer window is how well BFC have stopped the internal leaks and are able to carry out their transfer business in complete secrecy without raising expectations and potentially alerting other Clubs regarding our targets and ongoing negotiations. I am happy to wait for BFC to announce any incomings and outgoings when the deal is concluded. Personally I prefer this professional approach to all of the rumours, discussions and input from ITKs that used to feature regularly on AVFTT in previous transfer windows.

Hopefully we:ll make good use of the loan market MA had used it well in the past.

I'd rather we did that than spend our limited budget on fees.

What bollox!

there are 4 teams in our decision including ourselves who have not signed a player yet. the rest have brought in players already. hopefully there is movement soon, loan or otherwise.

I'm been quite relaxed about the lack of transfers and the good news being - we haven't lost anyone 🙌
For this season to be as good as the last (staying safe) we do need to strengthen (which has been discussed to death on here).
Let's see what today brings 🧡
PS: I do respect the posters concerns & won't criticise him for airing them.
The O/P is highly disrespectful , he/she doesn't deserve your respect.

Players coming out of contract only finished yesterday
club can’t announcing anyone till they are out of contract
Hopefully after this week we will see players coming in

Agree with everything but the last sentence, 585. I'm not sure why anyone should respect posters that make a series of unsupported accusations? I certainly don't.

Worried!!!! - I’m feckin shyttin’ it. Can’t sleep, can’t eat, can’t feckin stand idiot o/p’s

We have 8 weeks before transfer deadline and already have a near full squad. Why worry!

Appleton will be studying lots of last seasons games and the upcoming friendlies will give chance for players to prove themselves. Loans from Premiership clubs will not be clear until a couple weeks into season.

I am certain that changes will be made and for the better.

Koko would be wetting himself with that scenario
😀

Probably because those at the club keep mentioning about budget. Literally what Appleton has mentioned.

Zero movement so far. A lot of momentum lost.

I don't agree with this view to be honest. Why would 8 weeks matter when the season starts in 4 weeks and pre season is already underway.

This sort of lack of preparation is what we moaned about with the Os.

Appleton doesn't know the team and players like we do. He's impressed with the 10 days of training that he's seen but that shouldnt disguise the fact that there are some deficiencies within the team. I can understsnd the OP's anxiety. Hopefully, we can pick up four great loan signings. If we don't improve the quality of the side we will, at best, finish where we did last season. UTMP

I get that H, but we all all our own views and I'm not a lover of one Seasider insulting another over their personal opinions. Each to their own I suppose buddy 🍊

17/6/21 Bowler signs
17/6/22 Appleton taken on as head coach.

We would have had signings by now but for Critch leaving MA will be accessing what we need and you can't do that before working with the players.
We urgently need a back up RB but the rest are OK.

It's definitely a concern. Appleton has had plenty of time to get players in now and last year we started early, so that's clearly how we want to do things.

As Kurt says, momentum lost. Clearly we're struggling. Can't pretend we're not.

After watching the pre-season videos and noticing how happy everybody sounds and looks (Keogh looks as if he is losing it at times, bloody big kid 🤣 ) I'm not to worried. If that translates to what happens on the pitch we are in for an entertaining season.

But we have a full squad already, probably a couple of good signings and Prem league loans and we are good to go. We are talking of small incremental improvements in the squad, not wholesale changes

I think we could sign nobody and will still make a better start to this season than we did last year. The whole squad is a year older and wiser at this level than last season.
I agree, people saying we don't have a 'Championship' squad are being silly, we are a Championship club and managed 60pts with the squad we have. Do we need a few more players and extra quality, of course we do but some need to stop putting down our efforts last season and basing their opinion on the last few games when we did way too much tinkering and had a few players already on the beach.

So Bez (released/sold) and probably Thame (loan) allow 2 more slots.

Who else are we getting rid of? Thorniley? James?

I’m thinking Bowler will stay now.

Bez paid up I think, do not think we will get a fee for him.
Thorniley and James are both OK so only sell when we have a better replacement lined up.
Hope Bowler does stay he needs game time to improve, and on his day is unplayable.
RB and identify a dead ball specialist, not convinced by Garbutt

What are you basing this on? SS has put in more in 2 years than the Previous lot did in a lifetime. Are you expecting him to fund us like city’s owners?
I personally like the fact that that we are not splashing the cash like the bigger clubs. It’s why I support Blackpool and not City, United Liverpool et all. If that’s the kind of club you want then maybe Blackpool is not for you.

I think we’re ok, we’ve got a decent squad who did ok for us last season, if we have to start with the same squad it shouldn’t be a worry. I’m sure there’ll be comings and going’s and like most on here, I’d like them now, but it is what it is.

Absolutely. I draw the line at insults but nothing wrong in calling out unsubstantiated rumour and conjecture and asking for some proof. Otherwise it's just a gut feeling and I'm not overly fussed about paying attention to those.

Point is, unless we sign under 21s or release players in whatever manner, we are already at capacity.

I’m scratching around on who to release. Certainly we have 3 current left backs and 1 current right back.

I’ve read posts about us signing 6 or 7 players? We’d need to clear some out for better or worse to make that happen unless we are lining up 4 or 5 U21 signings (which again is potentially possible if not improbable)

As much as new signings, I'm looking forward to seeing what fresh ideas/impetus MA can give the existing players.

A new role here, tweak of formation there, it can be like signing a new player
