Would you still wear a face mask in the ground?

Sounds like it will be all bets off as of July 19th but would you still wear a face mask in the ground? Must say the concourse at half time doesn’t hold much appeal!

Am 50/50 on the whole thing but my mate who is a fit 47 year old, double jabbed and has COVID at the Mo and it has floored him.

Im 50/50 as well I've got covid at the mo, 61 clinically vulnerable double jabbed it floored me for one day and was just like hay fever symptoms for a couple more so.......

If asked to, but if you’re going to get it you will, I’ve had both jabs so hopefully it won’t be as bad if I do get it .

When at both at home and other stadiums, on the concourses then I will probably wear a mask but when I’m sitting in my seat then my mask will go in my pocket as we are outside anyway

But that's exactly the point of masks, and social distancing. To minimise the risk. "If you're going to get it you will" is completely wrong. The risk is greater the longer you are close to someone infected, and the risk is greater the poorer the ventilation. So make your own choices. In the stands is far lower risk, almost negligible, as far as I can ascertain. Standing for 10 mins crammed close to someone in the queue for a pie is much higher risk. But as the general prevalence of the virus in the community decreases, so does the risk everywhere.

I would if asked to, but otherwise I won't be wearing one voluntarily. I think we need to realise that you cannot prevent the spread of the virus completely. Yes, you could slow it down perhaps, but we all need to accept the reality - which is that it's highly likely you will get covid at some point over the next few years regardless of restrictions or precautions. Just like most people have had flu at least once in their lives. We are going to have to stop being frightened of it and letting it rule our lives. There really is no other option i'm afraid.

Might help me to stop giving refs abuse 😜😆
Probably won’t stop me but even less likely he will hear it than the chances are normally ,but that hasn’t stopped me in the past.Let’s be honest how many of you have shouted abuse at the ref whilst watching a game on the TV.
It’s part of football😉😉

I do hope our fans are considerate of those around them. I for example will wear them when in the concourse and queueing up etc but in the stand I won’t. Unless of course someone around me requests I do and in that circumstance I will of course put a mask on.

I do genuinely fear there will be a lot of confrontations between those who would rather people wear masks around them and those who decide they’re just not going to. The decent thing is to wear it if asked. It’s not much to ask.

I’d hate it if innocent people are getting sick, particularly older supporters, simply because someone thinks the rule doesn’t apply anymore and they therefore don’t need to care about others.

Only flaw in that argument won't non mask wearers not be carrying any?
You can hardly pass them one of yours.

If I feel uncomfortable with the proximity of others I will wear one, that is my choice. However I would never ask anyone else to wear one, we are outdoors, I am double jabbed and as I said if I don’t feel comfortable I will wear mine. That should be ample protection for anyone.

Other than the obvious benefits if you're in the proximity of the phantom farter then I would expect there to be no need and therefore definitely not.

The problem is if someone sat behind you is shouting and coughing in your ear. What do you do? If Boris opens everything up he's free to do that.

As we go forward, although they're removing the need for social distancing, do you think people will still leave more of a gap than previously when queueing, for example?

Never wore a mask for the Oxford game or Wembley(concourse excluded), I'm there to get behind my team which we where applauded for in those games a poxy mask hardly helps.

I won’t be wearing one. Being a smoker I have a lot of catarrh commonly known as gob.
It’s not pleasant gobbing in your own mask.
It’s not as though people lick floors or the top of my trainers !
Other than my cat Spit😬

Once the rule is lifted, I don’t think it’s reasonable to think you can ask someone near to you to put a face mask on.
It’s your decision to attend an event where you will be surrounded by strangers, if you don’t want to be in the vicinity of people not wearing masks, reconsider your decision.

I'm double jabbed, wear a face mask and have covid now, self isolating for 9 more days.. felt like shit on Saturday, headache now and runny nose.. to be honest I personally can't wait to not wear one get back to some normality in my life.

I'll wear one until I get into the ground proper, so outside but then it will come off.

I'll probably carry on wearing one in places like supermarkets etc., bot not outside.

Well it looks like restrictions are being lifted on the 19th now anyway , full stadiums , social distancing and the need to wear a mask, I suppose we will build up immunity as time goes by , so stay safe people and enjoy the new season !

I will wear one in a full stadium with people around me shouting / cheering etc .Covid 19 is a respiratory virus , spread by droplet infection . When we shout , boo , sing , cheer we emit lots of droplets that can spread infection - less so outdoors, but it is still spreadable . So those of us who are older , have increased risks like Asthma , COPD , Heart Disease , Obesity , Diabetes would be very sensible to keep wearing masks when in close proximity to other people . As the Tubby PM admitted in todays press conference , there are still double jabbed people being admitted to hospital with Covid and some are still dying . Last Wednesday morning in a Covid vaccination clinic , I saw a woman whose double jabbed Uncle had lost both arms and legs to Covid within the last month . Simples....keep being careful .UTMP.

Quite. I see Whitty has said he'll wear his in crowded indoor places, public transport and if someone asks. The last is the interesting one. Half this board imply they'd punch him for asking. So alpha male, this covid can't get them.
As I posted above how are you going to put a mask on if someone asks you if you've stopped wearing them?

I’d never punch anyone for asking me to put one on, but I’d tell them to F off 👍🏻

I've got an isle seat in P block. I'm not bothered about wearing a mask myself at that point as I'll have had both jabs but I'll wear one and ask the folk next to me if they would rather me keep it on... everyone's situation is different. Some may still be concerned by covid. Just because I'm not... doesn't mean others aren't.

Q block is the safest place in the ground......Nobody in it 😀

Definitely not outside & mine keeps having to come on & off like a whores drawers at work, as my reading specs won't stop steaming up. I'd willingly bin them once & for all, along with the mandatory light eye protection, gloves, ear plugs & other inhibitors. But I guess I'll persevere for a while indoors where appropriate.
