Wycombe

Horrendous news for Reading and one step closer to them going out of existence. Their owner is reminiscent of Steve Dale at Bury, and once again it looks like the EFL are going to do nothing to help. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is significant disruption from the Reading fans when we play on them on the final day.

EFL failed when they let Dai through.
Problem now is, what exactly can the EFL do. They have zero powers in reality.

To be honest, I'd fully support them if they chose to disrupt the game. They might be the most boring, mayonnaise-on-white-bread club in existence, but all football fans deserve a proper owner and control of their own destiny.

Yeah I agree completely, the sustainability of a football club is more important than one game. Scary to think we were staring down the barrel not long ago

And if we're drawing at the time and the match is abandoned with us needing three points to get in the playoffs what then?

I mean it's an unlikely scenario but I would be conflicted - I really hate the state of football ownership in English football and I desperately want to see it changed. If that meant us missing the playoffs I could accept it with a very heavy heart. Very heavy!

When we did it the game was awarded to them wasn’t it?
According to the BBC website.

"The board took the view that the 0-0 score line that stood at the time of the game's abandonment should be officially recorded as the final result of the match, as it believes that league points should always be earned on the field of play," said a statement.

I wonder what he will do next month ; he certainly won't have another training ground to sell. How much of the money from this sale is going to go back into the club to pay wages and HMRC must be open to doubt too.

It's an unusual case, one of the very few where you could say that there has been bad faith, as opposed to simple incompetence. The EFL are between a rock and a hard place ; trapped by both their past decisions on punishment and the inadequacy of their powers.

I hope the team rally and pick up plenty of points from here on in, personally. It would be nice to see four teams going down entirely on merit, rather than three. We've seen far too much of that nonsense in the Championship in recent years.

Reading fans seem to think he will take the money himself into offshore accounts and nothing put in to pay reading fc bills and wages etc

Neither us or Huddersfield were going up or down though.

I can't imagine the EFL would sanction a result in the event of a curtailed match that meant us missing out on promotion or Reading being relegated.

I'd imagine they'd clear the stadium and complete the game behind closed doors given its the final game of the season with potentially lots at stake.

I'd support the demonstrations though. We've been there.

Yes, agreed. I hadn’t realised that the other clubs that Yongge owned only went out of business after her purchased Reading, so I suppose there wasn’t grounds for the EFL to exclude him.

One of my real gripes with the situation is that in their statement, Wycombe try to pass off buying the training ground as beneficial to Reading, when in the long run it leaves them without anywhere to train and without what their fans are saying is their most significant financial asset. This will make Reading seem even less viable to a potential buyer.

I understand why Wycombe would want to buy it, and many on here spoke of how we should try and buy Poolfoot after Pilley went to prison, but don’t try and pass it off as helping them when in the long run it clearly doesn’t.

SIXTY clubs since the start of the PL have gone into some sort of financial turmoil. yes Sixty clubs. thats am awful amount of fans heartbreak and hurt. and now the greedy PL CANT agree on some sort of realistic financial package for us lower league johnnies. its truly a sad state of affairs . i much doubt by my sixty fifth birthday next january it will be much better. the biscuitmen deserve much better than to be crunched on the floor and forgotten about.

Just ask yourself if it's in the best long-term interests of Reading FC.
Don’t need to ask myself anything Loco as I’ve absolutely no interest in either Reading or Wycombe l merely stated what was on the Reading fans message board.

Just on Sky Sports News that an American consortium are looking to buy the Royals.

Also showed over 100 Reading fans who had travelled to Adams Park to protest against the potential sale. Interviewed one chap who was very emotional about the plight of his club under a despicable owner....

Sounds familiar.

No doubt you hoped they stood with us in our difficult period.
