My dog goes on a lead as she can be snappy around other dogs (despite being tiny). REALLY grinds my gears dog walkers who roam around in public places with their dogs running wild.
We always walk my dog in very quiet places and occasionally, if there is absolutely nobody around she can come off her lead. But as soon as we see other dogs she is safely back on her lead. And then other owners dogs come bounding over not on leads and we have to pick her up as when sniffed around she will snap at them.
People moan when their dogs get attacked. ALL dogs should be on leads as behaviourally they are all wired differently. Have no issued with them coming off leads if there are no other dogs around but in my experience people have zero consideration for others.
