Yates to Rovers ?

They are willing to sell Armstrong for 15M and replace him with Yates. How much of that 15M should we ask for 😛

I love Yates but if they offered 10 million bye but the wont it would be 2 or 3 million and they can GTF.

Every player has a price and Sadler is clear the plan is to fund by selling. But it would have to be worth it for us. Is Armstrong better? I honestly have no idea. If Yates goes well in the Championship his value doubles, so we have to judge how we think he will do. Sell now, or hang on if we believe he will succeed. Only in 12 months time he only has a year left in his contract, +1.

I think we will have a price in mind for this summer, probably, if anyone is willing to pay it he will go, but it won't be cheap. 5m or more.

They aren't going to offer 10 million, he is unproven in the championship. If they bid 2 or 3 million probably not worth it for us. If they go to 5 or 6 million then SS, Critch and the others involved have a big decision to make.

But it really wouldn't make any sense. He has three years left with us (this is the benefit of dishing out longer contracts!), and if we keep him and he scores regularly in the championship, his price tag will double, possibly treble. Would be shocked if we sold him. We didn't even sell our best player after promotion in 2007 and that was with a clown in charge.

If they offered 5m maybe Sadler would cash in, to fund team building. Maybe.

He had 4 seasons in the Championship with Rotherham

I think anything around or over 5m will be very difficult to turn down.

We need to get used to the fact that were going to be polishing rough diamonds and selling on for big profit to fund the club, thus losing fans favourites often.

Having said that, i hope Jezza stays for at least one season in the championship.

5 million buys a lot of polish!!

I don't think he will go anywhere, the players are tight and the atmosphere spot on. However a bid of over 5 million with a sell on clause would be an interesting conundrum and it's not like the money would end up in the owners back pocket in these times.

With 2+1 years left on his contract, plus the fact that we are a championship club ourselves, plus the fact that rovers may have £15M coming in, plus the fact that the player appears to be very happy, plus the fact that we have SSS running the show and we have players on good contacts, plus the fact that we have one of the best coaches in the EFL that Jerry knows he has improved under, plus the fact that we have a unique and passionate support base that are all prepared to go on the piss with Jerry Yates (before we die), all suggests to me that we can absolutley call the shots on this one :). So, if they want him, they will have to pay up big time, at least half of what they get from Saints or Norwich in my view. I would put a 7.5M price tag on his head. That's assuming of course we are prepared to sell, and I'm not convinced we are. But even if we are, have we already got a ready made replacement in the bag -Shayne Lavery?

Exactly, we've already replaced him. 🤣

If Rovers offer to treble his wages his head will turn in an instant.

Sorry( no I’m not) but why would anyone in their right mind want to go there....if he moves on then there are plenty of better opportunities than that crap place and club.

They're thinking they can sell Armstrong for £15m and get Yates for £1-2m and make a nice profit. We need to think of the long term too, and shake off this reputation we seem to have of selling players on the cheap - mainly caused by us offering poor contracts. He has three years left with us, is an integral player, and Rovers is a sideways step. Let's stop thinking of ourselves as the poor neighbours!

I think that the two main factors are that Rovers may come into a large amount of cash (so the price is inflated) and how much will it cost us to buy someone as good/ better?

The way we shake off the reputation 53 is to tell them where to shove it if they offer 1-2M. And even more so when they come back with 3M, 4M or 5M. Jerry is happy and there is no reason to sell him, unless we decide to accept an offer way above his market value. If it was a game of poker, we are absolutely 'holding the nuts' 💰

No way we sell for 2 million but anything around the 6 or 7 million mark and I think it would be good business, one way or another it goes back into the club. Playing the longer game that would go a long way to setting up a decent training ground.

Another point to consider is that we now have a very professional team running the club, led by a self made man who managed to establish a successful company in a highly competitve industry. Compare that to the previous bunch of amateurs whose figurehead was someone that just got lucky (in my view) in the late 80s property bubble and managed to cash in at the right time...
The point being we have a management team in place that will realise the strong position they are in regarding Jerry and will only sell if they want to and that will be determined by the size of the offer. If we sell the price will be a high one...

What if Everton agree to sell Simms for £3m and Rovers offer 5m for Yates? I'm sure it won't happen but there are many possibilities that could happen. What if Lavery is better than Yates? What if we have somebody else lined up who is better? We don't know what will happen and the past is full of surprise departures and arrivals. Sadler has ploughed a lot of money in and still wants to building a training complex and other things. Equally of course, we may be determined to keep Jerry for another season and he may well be very keen to stay here. Obviously. He may be worth more in a year's time. He may be worth less. Cold hard decisions, unfortunately.

Looks like rovers will take 8mil for him only got 12month left on his contract any premiership team will squeeze them lower,we could keep Jerry till christmas

Blackburn are not going to part with a big chunk of money received from selling Armstrong. The Venkys want out but there are no takers due to the financial state of the club. I really can’t see this happening. I think we’ll finish above them and probably have bigger crowds next season.

Deal should be 5 million with add ons to 10 million as a bare minimum

Same as Ivan Toney — Peterborough to Brentford

Yates arguably worth more as he is a Championship player whereas Toney was League 1

Rotherham will have a decent sell on clause. And with 3 years left on his contract I wouldn't consider anything less than £10m. If he has a good year ahead he could be worth more

Toney moved from Peterborough (L1) to Brentford (Ch) for £10M. I'm not saying we'd want that much but no way should we be selling for less than £5M.
Why wouldn't we want that much? Why do we continually underplay ourselves as a club. Why wouldn't we want to hold out for the same money that our peers are getting? If Peterborough got £10m (or up to £10m with add-ons) for a league one striker, why shouldn't we, or even more if he proves himself in the championship?
Not having a go at you Newbury btw, just putting it out there - why should we be happy accepting offers for less than similar clubs in the same league are routinely getting?

No way will Yates be going to t'rovers. Fully expect us to finish above them and the fuckwits at the end of the M55

I wouldn't know whether or not he'll be going anywhere t'Rovers Bob and there will be plenty of factors but I'm thinking how much they were willing to pay us and how highly they'd remunerate Jerry are possibly bigger factors than your expectations on next years league positions.

Yates will be with us next season at least I agree

There is too much love between him and us at the moment for either party to want the relationship to end .

Jerry Yates can help to firmly establish us in the Championship. If he's a success again next season we could be looking at serious offers from Premier League big guns in 2022. Why would we accept chicken feed from yokels when there's a real chance of shattering the 10 years old Charlie Adam fee?

Blackburn? - what a load of old cock 🐓🏝️
Jerry's going nowhere - besides, no-one can find him cos he's still under the radar 🛰️🛸
