Yates to Rovers ?

Despite the tabloid talk, the truth is t’Rovers are under a transfer embargo and may not get anything like what they’re expecting to for Armstrong

Plus it says Newcastle get 40% of any profit, so even they did sell for £15m they’d only receive £10m.

The chances are our valuation, in this case it isn't just Jerry's actual value, some of that would be inflated by the risk of Championship survival without him. Blackburn would have to pay more than what he is worth. The other factor if Jerry goes on to score 15-20 goals this season, his value will soar even more, probably double what we could get now. I would hope SS does brave it out because I think the rewards would be two fold, Championship stability and a bigger profit next summer.

I feel pretty confident that our Jerry, will still be our Jerry for all of next season. He's going to love playing in front of big. crowds and the special atmosphere we create. I also have a sneaky that Madine will go and our strike force will be Jerry, Lavery & Simms with Holmes as back up.

Get CJ and Mitchell flying and a creative midfielder with Dougall & Stewart behind or with either of them.

Baggies allegedly want Jerry now. And we want 5m now apparently! Baggies would be a much bigger threat than t'Rovers.

"West Brom have expressed an interest in Blackpool striker Jerry Yates ahead of a potential summer move, according to The Sun.

The Baggies are looking to strengthen their forward line with Mbaye Diagne returning to Galatasaray after his loan spell, and they reckon Yates could be capable of firing them back to the Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest are also keen on the 24-year-old, with Blackpool demanding £5million from suitors [The Sun].

I think it's a slow news period for many local news outlets, and they're all latching on to a good player without much concrete evidence. At this rate all Championship clubs will have been linked with him by the end of summer. WBA don't even have a manager do they?
It's funny, I saw an article which asked the question "Which championship club will Yates end up at?", and yet seemed to completely ignore the fact he's already at one.
We might sell, but I think our valuation will put a lot of clubs off and he'll be with us next season. We are reaping the advantages of dishing out longer term contracts - if our previous owners were in charge he'd be out of contract this summer (and we'd still be in league one of course).

I would be amazed if Yates goes. Last season was the first full season he was able to hold down a regular first team place at his own club. He'll know that and the improvement Critchley has brought out in him. I just can't see him agitating for a move and I doubt Sadler would move him on otherwise.

That all makes sense, but money has a habit of interfering. Could go either way I think.

Hilarious speculation on this thread.

No one in their right mind would sell Jerry Yates at the moment. It would be like cashing a bet in when you had good chance of holding on and making far more.

The 2 million price tag is way too low obviously and would be laughed out of town.

I reckon SS will be saying to Jerry let's see what happens this season. A reasonable current market value of 3-4 million could easily be doubled ... or beyond ... following a good season.

No way will SS sell (early)this season.

BTW I think we had two genuine stars of the future in our team this season. Players who will shine in the EPL in years to come. Jerry is one and Dan Ballard the other.

I have two thoughts surrounding this-

1. If an offer comes in for over 5 million we'd be stupid to not accept, because as good as Yates was last year, a third of his goals came from the spot and I do think that he is replaceable within our team (Simms was arguably better than Yates the last 10 games) so if we were able to get anything above 5 million we could easily reinvest that to buy 1-2 quality young players.

2. Jerry leaving would be a big morale hit for the squad and losing him after a promotion winning season especially after he's taken to the fans so well could really dampen the overall spirit and momentum of the club and team.

I personally don't think that he'll leave, because he really just got here, is in the same division, and won't want to re-settle again, but money also talks so it wouldn't be a shock if he moved and we'd be the benefactors from him doing so.

Whatever happens, we are the ones holding all of the cards here as he still has 3 more years left on his contract.
