Probably our most gifted actual (i.e non loan) player. Top scorer. Came on against Forest last weekend and notched a goal and an assist.

Yet he's given 17 mins yesterday; brought on too late in a winnable game. I like Madine but he looked a yard or two off the pace yesterday and Watford dealt with him comfortably.

People were quoting a £5m price tag only few weeks ago for Yates and he is undoubtedly our most saleable asset. He needs to be on the pitch.

If the board sanction the sale of Yates in favour of keeping Appleton, then I despair. It could be a long time in the lower leagues again with that kind of judgement.

Everything I see this written down I’m as gobsmacked as the first time I thought about it - TOP SCORER ON THE BENCH FOR OVER 70 minutes just really really odd and does not sit well at all .

We look so much more likely to score when he’s on the pitch, down the middle. Would be absolutely criminal to sell him in this window. Madine has a place in the squad and does bring something to the party, but should not start in front of Jerry
