Do you think Appleton will turn the fans around and keep us up.

Before is get berated for being negative etc etc, this is my personal view

I don't believe he has the full support of the fans (proved by the half time booing) and I don't think he will keep us up

So my answer sadly is NO

Appleton is not the problem. That performance today was bloody good against a team worth millions! Yes, there have been performance problems, injuries, Critchley pissing off, selling players and not landing players….. at the end of the day it’s not Appletons team and he’s doing a fair job with the tools at his disposal.
We’ll stay up, but striker needed

Yes from me.
Ivr a bad feeling Lala. I normally agree with you on most things but for me on this one I think we will be doomed !!!!

Perhaps daft to say so early on, but I just don't see anything to inspire me too much otherwise

1. Yep, the booing was reserved for the referee, our performance up to the gifted goal was good.
2. MA isn't going anywhere, he's on a 4 year deal which would cost a fortune to pay off
3. He's not exactly had overwhelming support from the recruitment team
4. Numerous injuries and suspensions have forced MA into playing formations which clearly don't work.

Sorry it's not a direct yes or no (and I agree it's going to take a long time to win the fans over), but my vote has to be a yes.

I said pre-game that given our injury situation we have done well not to be in the bottom 3. I think today, we showed again that we can compete with the best, and that we are not far away.

What pleased me today is that we had near enough 50% possession against a good team, and that we looked a threat. That hasn’t happened too often, so it’s progress. It’s that final ball and not being clinical enough.

Unfortunately if we don’t score, we suffer badly when defensive mistakes happen.

I came away positive today.

Fantastic post. Correct on all levels.

There is no doubt, NC sudden departure, the hugely underwhelming reaction to MA appointment and a frustrating transfer window has taken a lot of energy out of all of us.
We are a bottom six club.
To stay up we, as fans, have to be 110% behind the team .
The length of contract given to MA virtually guarantees his job this season .... so if we want to stay up we back the manager and his team.
Despite defeat yesterday, I think we will have just enough.
Yes fro me👍

It’s a no from me. He’s been knee capped before he even got going by the shambolic recruitment team. So he won’t be to blame in my opinion(although he will get the pelters as is the way of the footballing world)

I’ve seen nothing to suggest we have enough strength or are likely to develop sufficient positive consistency to prevent us going down. Powderpuff upfront leaking at the back and unbalanced in midfield and no momentum. We will have to adapt to being a yo yo club (hopefully) to try and build longer term.

He doesn't need to turn the fans around at all

Most fans are supportive of him

It's a no from me too, we don't score enough and I can't see where the goals are going to come from. I'm not convinced by Appleton but I'm also not sure just how much of it is his fault either.
This season has been a clusterfuck from the moment Critchley jumped ship followed by a very poor recruitment session, the sale of Bowler and more disastrous injuries to key players.
This is a very important month, a sequence of tough games and if we get nothing or little from any of them we could find ourselves firmly in the mire.

Yes. Really enjoyed the game yesterday, it was fast paced, attacking football and we fully deserved at least a point. Thought Wright played well.. very skilful at times. Jerry gave his all too.

It’s a no fro me. I don’t like the guy, never have & never will. Personal feelings aside, Appleton doesn’t seem reactive enough or inspiring enough to me. For example, yesterday Norwich played a right footed player at left back. We should have switched wingers even for short spells. Poveda did have some early joy but their player nullified him showing him inside & tackling / winning the ball back. The tactic should have been to attack that full on his weaker foot.
I, also, don’t find Appleton’s solitary stance on the touch line (arms folded) portrays any inspiration or confidence onto the pitch?
Pressure is mounting now with 4 defeats on the spin - how long would the current losing run be allowed to continue ? Not sure who is available as an alternative manager - that would come here !?!
If we haven’t at least doubled our points tally by the World Cup break then we be a relegation certainty.

I'm going to play Devils Advocate here

Lose to Watford, Sheffield Utd and Hull ..... 7 games on the bounce without a win, does Appleton stay ?

As you said further up, I too have a pretty bad feeling about this.

There are similarities to how Quitchley started, but then about 10 games in he got a run of very easy games, changed the formation up and we went on a bit of a run.

Regardless what what anyone thinks of Appleton he’s now got the three hardest games in the division, lose those three and it’s been 6 on the bounce, 1 win in ten etc.

If after that scenario there’s poor performances and negative results against Hull and Nobbers. I think the board would have to act.

As much as everyone’s saying he’ll turn it round now and we’re behind him, a Derby day defeat after 6 or 7 losses and the place will be in uproar.

He’s been a bit unlucky with how things have played out but he’s also made errors.

Its 3 defeats and the only pressure is from dick head fans

There is absolutely no point in sacking the manager now or even this season

The board appointed him, they need to back him

I would hope that is the case for now but he cannot afford to be complacent and must improve the results sooner rather than later ...the performance was much improved yesterday and that is a good sign.

If he loses the next few games up the break MA will not only lose the crowd but also the players will start to doubt him.
The younger inexperienced players will also start to suffer from the pressure. A big factor is confidence and that will start to drain away
with every defeat. Critch won the players over with his knowledge and being smart and showing it by winning games, not his charisma, he certainly wasn't a Billy Ayre or a Holloway. My worry with MA is he reminds me of my old grumpy science teacher and has the lack of charisma to match, and if the results do not turn then he will find it harder and harder to get a performance from the team, as the team starts to question his coaching ability with every defeat.

Hopefully, the midfield will get better when they play more together, and we will create more chances and hopefully more goals and start winning
games.

I want him to do well as that means we do well but even though we played well yesterday for good periods of time, I still at no time in the game felt like we would get anything out of it.
It takes a lot for me to get gloomy about things BFC as I am usually the voice of reason in our group.
I really do hope to be proven wrong 🙏🙏🙏

Something they’ve clearly not done so far in not getting Appletons targets over the line.
Look the jury’s out for me on Appleton I didn’t want him in the first place but I backed him as I would do anyone but it shows the boards lack of ambition if he was the clear candidate (to quote Mansford) so my only worry would be in getting rid of him just who do we replace him with? as clearly this club cannot attract big name managers like it cannot attract big name players as we simply don’t pay the wages most other championship clubs do and if truth be known some league one clubs as well.
