Yorkshire Ripper Dead

You have to ask yourself how the fuck he’s got it? Wasn’t he supposed to be on an isolation wing? 😮
Although reading that report sounds like he my have got it in hospital while being treated for a suspected heart attack weeks before.

It will save us all a few bob, keeping this worthless piece of 💩 alive. In my book, COVID has done the work the hangman should have done when he was convicted and was without a doubt the person responsible for the murders and the terror caused in the community. Oh, and I'm sorry if that upsets one or two of forgive and forget brigade, but they are my opinions. Good riddance to the creature. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co...re-ripper-serial-killer-peter-sutcliffe-died/

I don't think anyone will be mourning this loss. Good riddance.

If you were alive during his reign of terror you remember every one of those poor girls names. And I was under 10 for most of it.
The fake ‘I’m Jack‘ tapes with the ‘coming to the bright lights’ reference made Blackpool folk terrified for a while.
What a piece of sh*t he was.

I was living in Ilkley at the time he was rampaging around the area, women in general were worried and were being very cautious. There was a young woman murdered in Ilkley at the time, and although it was never proven to be him, I would lay my last penny on the fact that it was.

Whilst I don't agree with capital punishment, it's tempting in cases like this. I don't think any sane people will mourn his death.

Interesting article in the Mirror this week about his brother.
His Bro wouldn't speak to him or even visit for years.
He said that everywhere he went he could see people whispering about him being the Yorkshire Rippers brother.
It has affected his life negatively.
Seems like a normal guy, but what a burden to bear.

Fantastic news this evil scumbag has gone. I remember the elation around the country when he was arrested initially for the stolen number plates.
Should have been caught earlier but Oldfield the copper in charge put all his eggs in one basket on the Wearside Jack letters even though survivors of previous attacks had given a very good description.

As a late teens, I was going out with a lovely lass from Bradford 76/77. Going out with mates was a military operation to make sure everyone got home safe, I have never been anywhere with such a palpable feeling of fear.

May he rot in whatever hell in which he believes

If you mean Yvonne Mysliwiec, she was attacked but, thankfully, not murdered

I had a mate at Uni who's family lived diagonally opposite the ripper. Said he just appeared to be a quiet guy who could be a bit moody sometimes e.g. would shout at my mate and his friends playing slam against his garage doors. His mum knew Sonia well - and believed that she genuinely had no idea of her husband's crimes. Went to stay at his place for a stag weekend in Bradford in the mid 80s. Apparently, they regularly had coach parties knocking on the door asking to confirm which was the Ripper's home 🙄

What was the point of keeping this piece of filth alive like many others of his ilk the victims relatives should be offered the opportunity to have a word then what remains if anything should be incinerated might put a few prison guards , psychologists , general do gooders and latter day Lord Longfords out of a job but so what

Investigation not helped by that Geordie faker throwing them off. Only a junior detective had an idea it was him and his superiors would not listen.

Good riddance to this evil monster.

For the umpteenth time, you cant impose capital death on some convictions and not others, its like admitting some are more secure than others and if you have it across the board some innocent people will inevitably die.
I don’t agree with capital punishment. Whilst I said it it’s tempting I was merely meaning good riddance. As I know you can’t differentiate between different cases or bring the dead back after a mistake comes to light at a later date.

Sutcliffe was interviewed 9 times. His workmates called him Ripper at work as he looked just like the photofit.

Women who survived his attacks reported he had a Yorkshire accent but that was ignored in favour of Wearside Jack.

They didn't take it all that seriously until an "innocent" girl as opposed to sex workers, was killed.

The police have issued a full apology today. Bit late.

One of my Leeds mates really hates him. When he was in his late teens it was Sutcliffes fault there were no women out in the club's.

What’s also utterly heartbreaking is the lives some of these women had to live to make ends meet. The situations that got them into sex work, the lack of support on every level they had back in the 70’s and the awful childhoods and then trauma their kids had to endure. 😢

The thing of concern to me was that Sutcliffe was deemed to be a paranoid schizophrenic in 1984 and there was a case for him being mentally ill whilst carrying out these crimes, because for generations society has churned these nutjobs out and they seem to keep coming.
The attitudes prevalent towards women at the time was appalling where he was cited as some sort of anti hero for cleaning up the streets, and the police apology seems to be too little far to late.

That's not a plea for sympathy for anyone but maybe a call for us to look at how we run our lives, and where its too easy to create a monster given the pressures and influences put upon people.
I think there's a difference between someone who is criminally mentally ill, and someone like a terrorist who makes a choice to blow up kids at a concert; probably the wrong place for this but at least there seems to be some drive to address mental health issues nowadays, rather than them fester and develop into something far more sinister.

I totally get your points to be honest.

Completely agree.
Why keep this scum alive and well looked after?
There are certain crimes which deserve a 'Death Penalty'.
This was one of them.
How much money has it cost over the many years that he has been incarcerated?
Money that could have been put to a far better use.

We keep them alive because - for better or worse - we don't execute people in the name of the State. It is supposed to be one of the hallmarks of a civilised society.

And to be honest, looking at the performance of the police force that was in charge of this fiasco - are you certain that they would get the right man, every time? But for a lucky accident this case may have ended with them locking up some bloke from Wearside because he made a hoax tape.

Robbie, I get your point, and I know innocent people have suffered before. Just blowing a fuse at the whole situation.
Take care.
Dave.

Dave, I have my moments when I'm sorely tempted to go the eye for an eye route. I keep telling myself we have to do better than that. 😀

Take care yourself, and regards to the family.
