Although my dad, uncle and grandad took me to a lot of games from about five years of age they never travelled two away games

My first away game was Northampton in 1984/5, I was 15 and allowed to go with friends. We won 1-0 with a Paul Stewart winner. The crowd was 1860!

I really got the bug and went to a few more away games that season Bury, Rochdale, the famous 4-0 game at Darlington and then Hartlepool.

Ive loved away games ever since and always get to as many as possible

Can you remember your first away day?

Blackburn, mid 70's. Can't remember the result but can still see the copper throwing his helmet down on the pitch and diving in fists flying

lol. I remember same era on the Blackburn away end asking a pretty female copper for a kiss. Did I get arrested or the kiss? The kiss obvs. albeit reluctantly.

Absolutely no idea...I remember my Dad taken us ( the three brothers) to Deepdale in late 1950’s but did that get me hooked...probably not then but a few years later as they say the dye was cast...a tangerine one😳

Also Blackburn away. Must have been about 6 years old. It was the game when Bob Ward saved a twice taken penalty (both times) and we won 2-1 if memory serves.

27th April 1974 I was 10.
Sunderland v Blackpool
The last game of the season. If we win or draw we go up.
Micky Burns scrambled one in.
We were 6 minutes from promotion and lost 2-1:at Roker park.

First away game without parental supervision was on Ossie,s supporters coach vs Chesterfield in a 1-1 draw 86/7,Paul Stewart getting our goal.

Fecking Rotherham in 1978. Would love it to have been a famous one, but it wasn't memorable at all.
We lost 2-1, I can't remember much about the game apart from there being a lot of crowd trouble
The beer was OK though.
I also travelled by supporters club coach.

Lived in a small village called Boston Spa in Yorkshire as a kid and can remember being taken to Rotherham for my birthday by my dad , probably 1980 but cannot be sure!

Blackburn 1968 in my old mans new car with my older brother, can’t recall the game apart from that it was a night match, and we stopped for chips in nobberville on way home. 😋

Blackburn away , the same game L'etranger mentioned, I would have been 14 ish .
Very vocal support .

PNE away. Night game Anglo Scottish Cup 1980. Won 1-0, late winner by Dave Hockaday at our end. Age 10. Loved it.

First one allowed to go with mates was Bury in 1985.

That PNE match was my second away game. The first one was at Carlisle on teh Saturday before. The start of the disaster that was the Alan Ball season!

Mine too.

Hockaday scored at the Town End in front of about 1500 Pool that night. 😃
I'd say there was a lot more than that there. I stood on a ledge at the back. There is or was pictures of the game including our fans on Phil Heywoods Photography website in the galleries section , but just checked it and access is denied. The town was buzzing at that point, Alan Ball as player manager etc, but as Tartan said above, it turned to shit pretty quickly .

Blackburn 1968/69 season. Night match. Cracking atmosphere. I was 13. Suddick scored with a trademark bender but we lost 2-1. Me and my mates went on a coach. Think it was a Standerwick.

About 1979 vs Wigan Athletic away FA Cup - a night match, I think Stokoe was the manager then
We were cheated as anyone who was there will remember, we got pelted with coal by Bolton fans as well during the game.

Burnley 1965 on the coach age 11 - 1/2 on me todd Scarf nicked hat nicked lost game chased back to the coach did it put me off no bloody way

Oxford FA Cup, having beaten City in the previous.

Went on an Astley coach, me and Paul worked in the same block at Warbreck. Also from the same block was a bloke called Eddie, surname began with H but escapes me.

I remember the coach stopping somewhere, it was either Banbury or Aylesbury, there were two pubs either side of a village green, one was allowing football fans, the other wasn't. Me and Ed had A few in the quiet one, very pleasant.

Played well that day too, got gipped by a bad decision. Was it a dodgy pen?

Preston early eightieS, fighting on the cinder track at back of the town end. Anyone know the game?

That my first away match as well. Never been beaten in terms of support at another club's ground. Promotion to the top flight and relegation of PNE. Just unbelievable. And I was just 11 at the time.
Same age as me Pete, the most memorable Pool game I've been too l can remember it like it was yesterday but I’ve no idea what l had for my tea tonight!🥴

Cleveleys, was that the night League Cup game early in the season?

I had my first car crash after that game. It was the first time I drove to a game, went into the back of another Pool fan, took my headlights out. Apologies if you're on here!

Away to Bolton Wanderers 1954. My dad was a Bolton lad and a Wanderers fan. From memory as I was only 6 years old was the trains going past the open end of the ground and a team in white and one in Orange errrr tangerine🍊

BW won the game as revenge, no doubt for their FA Cup loss the year before. Saw great players in both teams including Morty and Sir Stan and the Lion of Vienna, Nat Lofthouse. It was the start of my love and support for the Tangerines.

My first away game too Trammo. But, you're a year out...it was 12 Nov 1969, in the 69/70 season.

I remember that match.
There was a cricket pitch adjoining the football pitch and the Blackpool fans were in the top right of the stand going the length of the pitch.
When the team attacked the far goal it seemed miles away🤣

My first must have been a Nob end match early '80's
