I personally think Jordan Rhodes is a contender for his goals, Dembele and now Morgan is making himself a contender.

He does ok at LB & CB in a back 4 & was playing well earlier in the season then tailed off, but I thought he was improving again. I really don't think it's helping with the 3 CB's without Casey, Marv, or Pennington involved. Just as long as Marv hasn't got the ball at his feet. I really don't know why Critchley puts Connolly in at their expense, it's bizarre.
 
It's a difficult one because I don't think we have a single player who has been consistently good all season so far. As it stands I'd have to say Rhodes for his scoring record. But I could see it being Morgan by season end if he carries on the way he is doing - for the quality of his goals alone.
 
I could defo make a case for Jimmy Husband. But Rhodes has bagged so many goals I can't look beyond him.
 
Dougall but then he stopped playing and left, presumably.

Husband but then he went massively off the boil, made mistakes and started pumping balls to nowhere after we passed it around a bit.

Morgan is growing into side very nicely, but hasn't done enough just yet to get it.

Rhodes has been brilliant bar the last few games, I think he currently is getting it, if he gets back to his best.
 
Husband would have got my vote four or five games ago but he's been a bit iffy recently.

Rhodes would be nailed on if he can keep scoring and his goals get us into the play offs. But as i said when he first signed and have said a few times since, if he's not scoring he doesn't offer much else. It's noticeable on here threads appearing where people posts aren't selecting him. Yep, people say he needs a rest and maybe that's valid but do you ever leave out your best and top goalscorer.
 
Rhodes, very strong case as has Dembele and Husband. However at the end of the season I think it will be Joseph, he has that something that stands out for me.

Up until the last few weeks I’d have said husband or Hamilton. They were both on fire but both seemed to fade around same time. Rhodes has the goals so that may do it. Most consistent for me has been Casey. Most exciting by a million miles is Dembele. Joseph improving. I couldn’t pick one right now tbh. There’s a few about the same which is great. Ask again at end of March.
 
Rhodes or Casey for me. I hadn't previously appreciated that Rhodes is far more than a goalscorer, so intelligent off the ball. Casey is my biggest surprise this season. The loans have worked brilliantly for him and us and he has been very consistent and strong at the back.
 
Jordan Rhodes - simply for his goal contributions.

I've been quite impressed by Morgan who can't score a boring goal.. Dembele has always been a bright spark, however i never feel like he can last a full game at the same tempo. Husband has been solid at the back this season too.

Word for word what I was just about to put!
The bloke has a real determination about him, love it when he drives forward. He's creating the right energy up front and making good chances for other players.
He links well and gives the midfield options to move the ball forward.
Scores a good goal too.
 
Got to be Jordon Rhodes for me, but all the players mention above iE Hubby, Dembele, Casey CJ Grimmy etc have all stepped up to the plate as have most of the starting eleven these days.

Let’s hope it’s the start of an excellent second half of the season🙏🙏🧡
 
I noticed that under Critch there seems to be a lot more candidates for player of the season. Under Appleton, it was Jerry, or maybe Lyons (who came in Jan ffs) but there will be plenty of names to choose come the end of this season.

Grimmy, Casey, Hubby, Gabriel, Morgan, Rhodes, Joseph, Dembele all in with a shout.
