Your starting XI if all available

Grimshaw
Gabriel
Ekpiteta
Keogh
Husband

Dougall
Stewart

Madine
Lavery
Anderson
Bowler

Subs:
Yates
Ward
Hamilton
Sterling
Maxwell
Carey
Garbutt

Grimshaw/Maxwell - both equally excellent
Gabriel
Ekipeteta
Keogh
Sterling(even though out of position he is probably the best in that position.
Bowler
Dougall
Stewart
Anderson
Madine
Lavery/Yates - as with the keeper, literally nothing between them

Just to be different, a second XI:

Maxwell

Sterling
Thorniley
Connolly
James

Kirk
Stuart (or Dougall)
Ward
Hamilton

Yates
Beesley

Bench (i.e. not in either XI):
Moore
Garbutt
Casey
Dale
Robson
Virtue

That's still a fairly decent side IMO.

Great isn’t it to be able to chop and change and have all that quality available - if only we could keep players fit and have better luck with injuries! What a change from all the dross we ended up with towards the end of the stains tenure

It's becoming difficult to put the squad into layers. And I've had to omit Robson, Stewart, Beesley, Dale, Kirk, Garbutt, Casey, Ward, Virtue. These mostly need to prove themselves in one way or another I think.

No Dougall even on the bench?
Not with the players we have if they were all fit, no. I'd play 2 out of Stewart, Ward and Carey with one of those on the bench, if one of those weren't here then yes, of course. My main worry is that Ward's injury is so bad then he may never play football again. The other thing is, what if Critch does sign Brannagan and another central midfielder and Stewart is fit, where does that leave Kenny then?

I have similar fitness concerns about Virtue and Stewart. Don't think any of the three can stay fit throughout a season. Was quite surprised we gave Virtue a new contract whilst injured. Think Dougall is safe for a good while.

certainties for me when all fit are

Ekpiteta
Keogh
Dougall
Bowler
Anderson [included with some reservations]

That's it. Make a case for either or in every other position.

When you look at all the suggestions it really is a strength in depth squad
I noticed though that despite a lot of posters in the past saying that Jerry should be a regular starter (and in fact criticising Critch on occasions for not starting him) that a lot have not included him in the starting XI but prefer him as an impact player.
With the talent available it must be very difficult for Critch to select the right team but we must remember that team selection is often change during due to the opposition
It does appear that all the players are happy to accept Critchley’s decisions ( wether staring or being sub) which must make life easier for him, but then again, any sort of management is never easy.

Grimshaw
Gabriel, Marv, MUR, James.
Stewart, Dougall.
Carey.
Yates, Beesley, Lavery.

subs, Maxi, Madine, Kirk, Dale, Casey, Keshiman.

Whilst I'm surprising myself by saying it I don't think Dougall is a certainty anymore with a fully fit squad.
In fact for me there is just 1 cast iron certainty,
Ekpiteta
I say that in the belief we have a good squad of fairly equal ability. We also have a flexible squad that can play in different formations which we showed to good affect at Fulham.
There are quite a few that are close to certainties:
Grimshaw
Keogh
Bowler
Anderson
and they would all currently be in my team but individually they are all replaceable whereas I don't think Eky is.
As for Saturday 4-4-2
Grimshaw
Gabriel
Ekpiteta
Keogh
Sterling
Dougall
Stewart
Bowler
Yates
Madine
Kirk

Wow shocked even 1 person picked Madine there is no doubt he is league 1 at best .Has a occasional game where he wins a few headers or holds the ball up but this is rare there are far more games where he wins nothing when he should be .His lovechild calls him s goal machine how bizzare

Of what we’ve seen so far he is the best player at the club to flick on, hold the ball up, bully opposition players. Yes he may not be the best and certainly doesn’t score enough but no other player has so far shown they can do what he does to suit our formation and playing style. As others have said I’d love to see Jerry and lavery together but it just doesn’t appear to work
