Youth team.

A lovely crisp passing, moving the ball forward quickly, finished off by a Luke Byron stroking the ball into the corner of the net.
1-0

SIX.
One from the left this time as Zack Littler curls a cross directly into the far corner of the goal
6-0.
SEVEN.
Strawn knocks in the rebound after a rasping shot from Daniels crashes against the bar.
7-0

Arnold Matshazi pounces on a mistake from the Tranmere defence and curls the ball into the right hand corner of the net from the edge of the box.
8-0

Just back after a bit of sub-contract work for Father Christmas on the way home. 🎅
The performance was for once reflected by the scoreline.
Pool dominated from start to finish against what was an unsually poor Tranmere side. It would be fair to say that every bounce, every deflection went Blackpool's way but good teams make their own luck.
With presumably an eye on next weeks FA Youth Cup game the dynamic mid-field duo of Luke Mariette and Tayt Trusty were split up with both getting a half each.
Luke Byron was brought in to fill the vacant mid--field role (I'm pretty sure he's a 1st year) and whilst he's slight of build and still has a lot of growing to do I was very impressed by him today. He set the ball rolling by scoring possibly the best worked goal of the game. 3 slick passes from Trusty on the half way line, to Strawn on the wing, to Luke in box who finished with an excellent strike (Luke was playing as a defensive mid-fielder, what the fcuk was he doing in the opposition's penalty area 😲 ).
The team continued the "front foot" style of play that they played against Huddersfield only this time the free flowing football was finished off with goals.
I can't honestly say that we more or less scored every chance we created.
Got to mention James Harrison, the striker that didn't score, who really looked disappointed that he didn't get on the score sheet. Well done James it's a team game and you more than played your part with a particulary strong second half when the game was played on your side of the pitch.
On to Cheltenham next Wednesday and hopefully the game will be streamed so plenty of Pool fans will get a chance to see how the "new kids on the block" are doing. 🍊

Thanks Insider, interesting stuff. What sort of standard can we expect from Cheltenham, any idea?

All I can tell you is that they are in SW Alliance League which is headed by Bournemouth who are the only Championship team out of 10 teams in that League.
Cheltenham are currently in 7th place P13 W4 D2 L7 F16 A22 Pts14.
I think that probably would make us favourites "on paper".

Rubbish result, they should have scored 10. 🤪

Well done lads I just hope some of the first team were taking note!

Great report as always. Cant believe one of the strikers didn't score in a 9-0, will be kicking himself. But, as you say, its more about the performance of the team. Watch him get a hat trick on Wednesday! Thats what i would be telling my boy to do if it was him!

I think the big difference is the Youth team play without fear because, particularly in League matches, it's not a results based business.
More pressure is applied in Cup games which Ciaran Donnelly told us in his most recent interview.
First team games are exactly the opposite.

Good interview and words from Academy Manager Ciaran Donnelly on the Academy.
Very complimentary about Chris Maxwell's involvement with coaching u15/u16s.

The one touch football, the close control and THAT killer pass was better than the first team.
This set of lads are quite special.
The interesting thing is the first team have the first two of those qualities in abundance but it's the killer pass we always have problems with!
