New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Watched the first episode of the new series of Time on Iplayer last night and jeez, it was hardcore. Some absolutely amazing acting and as always, a great script from Jimmy McGovern, brutal though and I was emotionally drained at the end of it. A definite must watch.

Just watched all episodes of "The Rise of the Nazis" on the BBC iPlayer.

It's a history of the end of the war and how a large number of Top Brass Nazis just walked away from the war so easily. And that the immediate cold war between the USA and the USSR allowed a lot of them to slip into the ether.

And then be caught again. Sad but great series.

Bosch Legacy is good. I’m a total Bosch/Connolly fanboy. I think Titus Welliver is ** awesome, even though the plots are a bit weak in this series but he’s carrying it so far.

The Newsreader …. Aussie drama set in a newsroom in the 1980’s, focussing on office politics and personal relationships whilst featuring real life stories of the day.

Series 1’s available on BBC iplayer and series 2 starts on Thursday on BBC2. It’s superb…

The Detectives: Taking down an OCG, on how the police tackled Rochdale's most high-profile drugs gang, a bunch of vicious scumbags ruining the lives of adults and children alike.

Brutal but utterly compelling viewing. The end of the final episode is beyond sad.

Absolutely brilliant program and Martin Souter is my sort of Rozzer, very brave lad was Cameron and agree with your last comment so any viewers must watch the credits at the end.

'Power' on prime. Usual new York drug dealer gang story but the twists and turns in the plot are fantastic. Great series if that's your thing. I love it.

Watched "Rengades" last night on Prime, had some absolute legends in it from Denzil(OFAH) The Saint, Dempsey and Makepiece, The Bill, Fall Guy and Patsy Kensit. It was so horrifically bad that i enjoyed it far more than i should of...!

Another vote for Netfix's.....All The Light We Cannot See.....100% you're going to cry and 100% worth watching
Lawman Bass Reeves.....From the guy who brought you Yellowstone & 1923.....2 episodes in so far and it's not bad
After The Party.....Again, only 2 episodes in but it's got Peter Mullen and a mad women kicking off at each other....

I can also recommend The Great Escaper with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.
Don't know why but this really got to me and there wasn't a dry eye in the house watching this

I watched the first episode of All the lights we cannot see and thought it was a sentimental load of rubbish and it’s one series I want be watching any more of. Cheesetacular.

Bit of a void at the moment after the brilliant Time and also Boiling Point but lots of good stuff about to come out including Slow Horses season 3, Tha Lazarus Project season 2 and season 2 of Jack Reacher. Bit o a reality TV fest up to hristmas too with my guilty pleasure, I’m a celebrity, I know, I know, shoot me! The return of Claudia I the very excellent traitors and the Squid Game where hundreds of people from all round the world are playing to win £4.63 million!! Filming in a huge hanger in Bedfordshire, my nephew is the art director for it.

Watched 2 episodes of the Robbie Williams documentary on Netflix. He's a tortured soul. All a bit odd. He's thin now but looks gaunt and unhappy.

i have watched the first 3 episodes and have really enjoyed it despite having little or no interest in him. Gives a good insight into what it is like being in the public eye all the time and his hatred for Gary Barlow is refreshing to see.!

Mentioned above but For all Mankind S4 Ep1 landed today.

Good to see Al Gore becoming President. 😄

Commented on this, then had a look. dohh watched it ages ago. Well worth a watch.. Wont take long ;)

New series of Upload on Prime is out. Not watched it yet but enjoyed the previous two series.

I watched David Fincher’s new film on Netflix last night called The Killer. If you like a film that builds tension then this is your film. Can see why it’s getting good critical reviews. One of the better things on Netflix.

007: Road to a Million on prime, saw some poor reviews for it but really enjoying it. Some likeable sorts on it especially the Bangladeshi bloke who constantly puts his wife forward whenever there’s a difficult/dangerous challenge.

I really liked ‘The Long Shadow’ on ITV. It retells the story of the Yorkshire Ripper, but concentrates more on the victims and their families. Even so, the misogyny of the police is shocking, and their incompetence beggars belief.

Just watched the first part of the Robbie Williams docu. Ok, a bit boring and self-indulgent maybe. Seen enough and won’t be finishing it.

All the light we cannot see. on NETFIX. a blind girl in a town in france being hunted down by the nazis for a secret. IT involves a highly sought after diamond which was made years before . just watched the first episode. Hugh Laurie plays the girls uncle who is involved with the resistance.

Culprits on Disney + Just watched first episode. Excellent and it's one of those that I think you will binge watch. It's a crime mafia type series based in UK and America. Very interesting and gripping plot .

As expected it's getting poor reviews. As you say the recent stuff isn't great - the first 2 were fantastic with Claire Foy and Matt Smith, the third was still good but the decline started with 4.
I stopped watching after series 3. They were distorting history to the point it was ridiculous. The Mountbatten episode, where he was portrayed as contemplating a coup against the government, was factual fantasy.

The Crown was awful after season 2 stopped watching at the start of 4.

Seriously, if you haven't watch the Morning Show on Apple then you are missing out. I ignored it from the start as I thought it would be shallow and boring.... but it isn't!

Any views on For all Mankind as that was another I have ignored.

I really like For All Mankind. Worth investing time in imo.
The Morning Show is really good as well. Apple don't do much but what they do do is usually good quality.

Working our way through Bodies which I like.
Fall of the House of Usher we finished last week. Bonkers but ace.
