New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Ok, I'm on episode 3 of yellow jackets, getting better, interesting, worth seeing more? Episode 1 was garbage, but I'm getting involved now?

Lazarus Project season 2 is ace, half way through. I'm a bit overwhelmed by what's suddenly appeared to be honest, but can only be a good thing. There is a series about Billy the Kid which is supposed to be really good and another on paramoun, a true storyt about a Black Sheriff, Lawman Bass Reeves, I love a western and both of those are supposed to be great.

Has anyone else watched the football conman on ITVx? fascinating watch, the guy starts out as being a footballer at Southend, gets used to the lifestyle, so starts conning people

Fantastic feature in the last Planet Earth programme.

Previously extinct in Europe, Northern Bald Ibis chicks have been ‘imprinted’ onto human foster mothers, familiarised to the point that the chicks believe that these humans are their real mothers and want to follow them everywhere.

To get the birds from Austria to their summer feeding grounds in Italy, the human foster mothers fly in microlights; a dangerous journey over the high Alps. The birds follow their ‘mothers’.
Once the birds have been taught the route, they know it for life.

Utterly remarkable work by truly devoted people.

We saw that.. it was fascinating!

Podcast on radio 4 last night called “now your asking.”
Basically two Irish women discussing people’s problems at a virtual kitchen table.
Hilarious with Tara Flynn and Marian Keyes

Just finished Yellowjackets series one, after some advice off here, as I nearly gave up after episode 1, but it did improve, I see series one didn't have all the answers, & there is a series 2, does it warrant staying with it? (I also see there is a series 3 in the offing)

Another one for Kin....top stuff

Tried watching The Traitors for my missus and ended up thinking it was one of the best things on TV for a while

Looking forward to watching Death in Paradise to get that winter sun feeling.

I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment with how much stuff has suddenly become available and don't know where to start so we've just had 6 music on instead!!

As a big Cornwell fan in the past, I shall watch with interest to see how the Winter King pans out.

I suppose, having done the Last Kingdom series, it was inevitable someone would take this on as well. While LK was a decent watch it suffers from being too long a series of books - it would be hard to see it through to a conclusion unless they plan on missing several of the books out.

The Arthurian Trilogy could make a great set without getting bogged down, if they stick to the general path of it.

Godzilla minus one at the cinema. Japanese production with sub titles. Monster to me, seemed to have a tyrannosaurus sumo appearance. Film different from the usual and entertaining.

Watched The Doping Ward last night. A harrowing account of the nurses at Blackpool Vic and their drugging and abuse of the patients on the stroke ward . Unbelievable but true. It's on BBC iplayer .

I wouldn't bother, the books are great but they have completely fucked up the TV series, it bares no resemblance to the books, which is some achievement when you thing that is the whole point. Watch Slow Horses instead, Gary Oldman is just brilliant in it.

Cannot see many/any references to Slow Horses on Apple. Series 3 is coming to an end. Trumps series 1&2, which were both excellent. Gary Oldman is absolutely fab, but great supporting cast too.
It's been the best of the 3 seasons so far and Gary Oldman is just superb in it. I have read the books and this is better, he is the perfect Jackson Lamb I would say it is one of my top 3 series this year.

Currently watching all back seasons of Girls. A US series.
Well written and acted and very enjoyable easy watching 👍

Thanks Herts. I didn't know it was on ITV Whatever It's Called, which I don't have yet. So I haven't seen it anyway!

Just once I would like someone to make a TV series or film from a book I know and like, and consider (like me) that the story and characters stand strong enough on their own, with only minimal adaptation.

As they're gradually knackering several Cornwell series' (although Sharpe was OK as a programme if you haven't read the books and believe that Napoleonic battles were fought with about 100 a side. Good characterisation though) I keep coming back to an old favourite of mine, The Golden Warrior by Hope Muntz. In summary Harold v William, ending in Hastings, but written in a period style that works perfectly. If you can find a copy as it's sadly been out of print for years now, I can't recommend it enough.
