New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Haven’t bothered with them yet mate. Couldn’t be arsed. If I hear they’re good I’ll give em a bash. Always nice to see Michelle Keegan.

I'm sat in front of a blank TV still waiting for 'Severence' series 2

Loved the series 'Barry' it was mint !

Looking for another off kilter series..
I’ve read it’s going to be at least another year until we see Severence S2 I’m afraid.

There’s apparently been directing and writing disagreements and now with all the writers and actors strikes the project is way behind.

It’s a real shame as the first series was fantastic and finished on a cliffhanger.

That Masters Of Air which is a Band Of Brothers sequel looks good. Coming to Apple in January.

As it's currently very topical I just thought 'd put up my recommendation for the series FAUDA which is pretty much based on an Israeli crack special agents team dealing with the problems of Palestine and their military teams. It's a fantastic, high tense drama series with the only down side is that a bit of it is sub-titles.

Yes watched The Long Shadow on ITV1 and ITV X? About the Yorkshire Ripper crimes. A very strong cast.
Finished it yesterday. Can’t deny it brought a tear to my eye.

Considering I remember it happening as a child, and have read and seen many documentaries on this subject, this is the one I found the most emotional.

I think focussing more on the dead girls and their families rather than the ripper himself made it more of a moving watch.

Stellar cast, great performances, horrible times. Would recommend.

Personally found it a bit boring. It was neither in depth about the murders / Sutcliffe himself not a detailed analysis of the investigation.

Each to their own, I stuck with it, just. 6/10

Just started Boiling Point on BBC, the original movie was absolutely brilliant and this is just as good. Tense, stressful but just superb, Steven Graham can do no wrong for me, great actor. Coincidental that 2 of the best TV dramas this year have been this and The Bear, on Disney+, Both set in restaurant kitchens, Both 3 star Michelin Star TV!

I see Godfather of Harlem is now on Sky, I've watched all the series on a different platform, well worth a watch this one, even if it's only to drool over Bumpy Johnson's wife Ilfesh Hadera, pure eye candy!!

Out of interest does Succession get better - watching the 3rd series and it's hard work - am hoping they pull out all the stops in Series 4 as it's getting a bit tedious.
Kendal's birthday was the low point of the four series IMHO .. sound was awful and the story just drifted. Came good again at their Mum's wedding and the 4th series is decent 👌

Just watched Black Snow on BBC iplayer
Aussie crime drama series which is very good
Seen some really good Aussie dramas in the last couple of years

Heads up for S4 of For All Mankind hits the screens in November.

Anyone not seen the first 3 it's a great watch.

Watched all 3 parts of The Continental on Amazon.

Brilliant stuff. 3 episodes each nearly film length. Made by the John Wick people. Really well worth a watch. Mel Gibson in it as a sadistic bastard.

This subject is close to my heart and anyone affected by cancer directly or indirectly should watch this.
My own personal battle with it was throat cancer(never smoked) and I was given a 5% chance of living past 5 years when diagnosed.

My treatment ended early as I was too ill to continue the chemo so when I got out of the hospital I researched alternative treatments and the subject matter in this documentary is the main thing I used and still use 6 years on.

Although life is a struggle due to the radiation damage to my mouth and throat I have been told that the same cancer in that area won't return.

Give this a whirl and it is the bitter type of Apricot kernel if anyone is going to try it.

Started Night Sky, am 3 episodes in and still non the wiser? I have downloaded 4, so if it doesn't get better by then, I may bin it off...

Watched all of the Fall of the House of Usher this week on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Pretty graphic horror but I've always lover the Poe stories and poems and this is worth a watch. some great acting too.

Just started Bodies on Netflix, 4 different time zones, 4 bodies found in the same street in each, slowish first 2 episodes but getting interesting.

For music lovers there is a `doc/concert called Summer of Soul which was over several weekends in a park in Harlem in 1969, some amazing music, the recording was hidden away in a basement until 2019 and it has been edited and had artists still alive etc., commentating on it, this is on Disney plus.

Grand Slammers on ITV.
2 parts only.
It‘s basically the England Rugby World Cup winners teaching prisoners how to play rugby and take on the guards / a team of Aussies.
Some really nice moments in it and timely for this weekend.

Triangle of Sadness on Prime Video. A movie that is quirky, funny, poignant, relevant. It's about relationships, the rich and powerful, the haves and have nots. Keeps you guessing and gripped throughout.

Went to see The Great Escaper at the cinema over the weekend.
Not bad, maybe a six or seven out of 10.
Great performances from Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson though.
Looks like being MC’s last ever film role, and obviously it will be GJ’s!
