Blackpool v Peterborough United Official Matchnight Thread 23.03.21

Great finish from their player but that is daylight robbery. The only criticism is that we haven't made more of their defensive frailties. Gutted.

Totally didn’t deserve that, I can only assume Thornily took his eye of the ball. Wounded 😩

Hopefully we can find those nice triangles of play we managed against Oxford going into the second half if Peterborough are going to continue as a 4-4-2. Really need to hope those final balls improve. Mitchell is a hell of player but still very raw. Him and CJ need to be working on their final balls and crossing as if we could get that right Mitchell alone could have 3/4 assists this game.

At least 5 misplaced passes. Proper misplaced as in nowhere near. I like Dougall but he's off his game tonight and I'm not the only one to have mentioned it Kurt
I read what you said. It's just absolute rubbish. He's broken up play really well. And 5 passes out of over 30, isn't what you randomly described it as. Our best midfielder we've had for years

I thought Thorniley was having a good half before the error as well, probably harsh to lay the blame completely on him but it is frustrating as it could have been easily avoided.

I know it was poor by Thorniley, but it was a brilliant finish that.
We haven't made the most of the good positions we've got into, but we've played well.
We are seriously lacking height though, we can't win a header at all.

Good performance, didn't take our chances, messed up at the back and they equalise. Pretty standard really, not clinical enough. Shame too cos we have played well with a lot of players out

Never sits right with me when we miss chance after chance, 1 fuck up from Thornley and it’s 1-1.
Lets hope it doesn’t chance the complex of the game. Keep creating the chances we should win this.

I can't believe we've been so dominant and are still level.

We've limited them to one corner, which is their big strength. Their back four look very lackadaisical though.

I'd take a point now if offered. If we had anywhere near a full starting xi we'd be massacring this lot but with what we have we are doing alright at the moment. Unfortunately the bench is as weak as any we have had this season.

Need a big half here.

Superb first half from us. Let's focus on the positives. If we play that again second half then we'll win.

Eh? there must have been 20 back passes in the last 25 minutes. 10 balls passed to their players and one thrown in in their half thrown back almost to goalkeeper! WTF

Oh and half a dozen long balls to nowhere 🥺

We are better just going forward passing on the deck

Give Peterborough any sort of gaps to open and operate in, and a sniff of look at your net, and they'll tend to aim straight towards the back of it unfortunately. Just how it is. Defensively you can get at them, and to our credit they've had to switch from their usual formation mid-half, but if you don't get at them enough whilst you can to make your own moments count then they will still keep coming.

Hope this game doesn't get away from us too quickly now second half as they start to find the likes of JCH, Szmodics and Dembele as I think the game will open up more for them. It's going to go one way or the other. Either tired bodies tired minds and a hard luck story by the end, or a tactical counter to the one that Ferguson has come up with.

If form is anything to go by, the best we can hope for is another draw despite playing well. The last time we won when the opposition has scored was against Hull in December,I think, won 3-2.

Really really promising positions to capitalise in that half and we screwed up every time. Corners shite, free kicks shite, final balls not good enough. Should have been at least two goals to the good before they scored.

I missed their goal as it’s my turn for a spluttering picture. Pity we conceded so close to HT. We really need the players on the pitch to come out in the same mode for the second half. Apart from Robson & Simms the bench looks lightweight tonight. It’ll be a big ask for the youth players or Antwi to come on & make a difference. But as Stranger things have happened. 🤞

They will change it around second half they've been that poor and that goal has given them a boost but for us it was a real kick in the Gonads.

Over to you NC be prepared.

When in the team Thornily has been okay but always seems to have a clanger in him. He should've come to try and block the shot too!
A good half from the Pool and plenty of positives though Embleton has had a poor game so far, needs to work on his shooting - On Saturday and tonight had 5 clear shots coming in on his favoured left and not troubled the keep once.
