Reading sign Danny Drinkwater SLL from....Chelsea.
Big Danny , remember him wellHe looks a big unit bit like Danny Shittu
And before that they signed Scott Dann, there's me thinking they were under an embargo?!Reading sign Danny Drinkwater SLL from....Chelsea.
Remarkably unimaginative signings. Sort of signings an old bloke in the stands would choose.Andy Carroll set to sign for Reading. That's 3 massive earners for a club under an embargo, following the signings of Dann and Drinkwater.
Agreed, they are all injury prone, could be a very expensive treatment room!Remarkably unimaginative signings. Sort of signings an old bloke in the stands would choose.
They are under restrictions not an embargo. The were allowed to bring in a maximum of 3 players with a maximum wage of £8500 per week I believe.Andy Carroll set to sign for Reading. That's 3 massive earners for a club under an embargo, following the signings of Dann and Drinkwater.
Jamal Lowe to Bornmuff for £1.5m.
Yep - for some of these Championship clubs that is a major restriction. So the restriction was that Reading could spend nearly 1.5 million in a year on 3 players? Not much of a restriction.

Carroll might be on a paid only if you play deal like he was on at Newcastle.Andy Carroll set to sign for Reading. That's 3 massive earners for a club under an embargo, following the signings of Dann and Drinkwater.
How do you know that. You don’t even sit near me.Remarkably unimaginative signings. Sort of signings an old bloke in the stands would choose.
He doesn’t just sound like a powerhouse, he looks like one even when sat at a desk!Buzzing with sterling joining, sounds like he’s a powerhouse and comfortably ready for the championship. Was hoping it wasn’t off the cards when Nixon announced about Gabriel - who I’m glad is coming back, but would expect him to be second choice for this season
He was getting forward a bit more last game he played. Shame he fluffed two good opportunitiesUnited get Ronaldo and Varane and Sancho - Liverpool get Henderson on an extended contract. Bet Scousers are creaming themse
He'll probably help keep Liverpool above United though. United short in the two holding positions. Fred/Matic. Could use a Hendo in there.United get Ronaldo and Varane and Sancho - Liverpool get Henderson on an extended contract. Bet Scousers are creaming themselves.
Voy, I know I'm biased where Hendo is concerned, but I genuinely think Liverpool are a far more dangerous side when he doesn't play. They are one of the few teams that don't really need a 'holding' midfielder. Other than that ability he's pretty average and often negative with no creativity whatsoever. He'll probably help keep Liverpool above United though. United short in the two holding positions. It wouldn't shock me. I think Gabriel has played some LB. We have other LBs of course but when we play a back 4 we might occasionally decide to get our two best fullbacks out there. Garbutt will still be a shoo-in for LWB though, probably.I wonder whether if Gabriel signs too, he and Sterling could end up right and left back, rather than one covering for the other? Not sure about whether either has had a go on the left flank before? Either way we're showing intent
You're definitely biased. Klopp picks him when it matters. He's not really there for creativity is he?Voy, I know I'm biased where Hendo is concerned, but I genuinely think Liverpool are a far more dangerous side when he doesn't play. Agreed, so why pick him when he's usually superfluous to the way the Scousers play.Klopp has shown he knows what he is doing, but I do query his logic in this matter. He's not really there for creativity is he?
Klopp knows better than Solsjkaer, I think. And clearly doesn't consider him superfluous. Quite the opposite in fact.Agreed, so why pick him when he's usually superfluous to the way the Scousers play.Klopp has shown he knows what he is doing, but I do query his logic in this matter.
Options, options, options. Great isn't it?2 players signed for the RB / RWB slot and now we look a lot more balanced and well stocked at the back. Should take the pressure off of Garbutt too meaning we can build from both flanks and it adds a hell of a lot of pace to the squad too. Not to mention someone capable of taking a decent throw in !!
I’d expect to see us playing 3 CB’s (Husband or Gretarsson, Marvin and Sterling) with Garbutt and Gabriel playing at LWB and RWB. Or 2 CB’s when Stewart is back capable of sitting just in front of the defence.
Certainly gives us more options and ability to adapt to other teams2 players signed for the RB / RWB slot and now we look a lot more balanced and well stocked at the back. Agree - I am really pleased with these and the intent shown by the Club in this area of the squad, but I will be surprised (pleasantly) if there are many more. I do expect to see a couple go out on loan. Two signings before lunch time, have the feeling we'll see one more through before the window closes...
Isn't Reece James a LB?2 players signed for the RB / RWB slot and now we look a lot more balanced and well stocked at the back. He is. But also a CM and a bit of a utility player it seems.Isn't Reece James a LB?
He'll be hoping to get Garbutts place I reckon. He is. But also a CM and a bit of a utility player it seems.
As will Mitchell when he’s fit !He'll be hoping to get Garbutts place I reckon.
I think not actually. As will Mitchell when he’s fit !
More forward ? He’s certainly capable of playing LWB but I do agree he also has all the attributes to play elsewhere and I would like him to flourish further up the pitch. Shows the strength in depth we have though and shows Critch’s early claims about liking players who can play in multiple positions is very much what the club is all about.I think not actually.
Critch tried him there and took him out of the side for a while before introducing him in a much more attacking role, with much more success.More forward ? I disagree a real leader with a great passing range top player always been under rated by some but all England managers and Liverpool managers want him in or around the team.Voy, I know I'm biased where Hendo is concerned, but I genuinely think Liverpool are a far more dangerous side when he doesn't play. I’ve no ideaI'm confused. Could someone explain to me, what a 4 year contract is!!
Man United have signed Ronaldo? They could have mentioned it, I had no ideaHad sky sports new on for the last hour and the only transfer done this window has been Ronaldo to United. Dont know why I bother watching.
