QPR v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 23.02.22

We didn't deserve to win but to throw away a point is a joke. Yet again a lack of urgency and incredibly poor defending costs us. No excuses, way too many below par performances.

I just dont understand why he keeps playing connolly . Would rather play with 10 . He is stealing a living . Hacked with that ** gutless, second rate performance. They should apologise to every single one of those fans that went down tonight . Starting with Critchley. Pile of shite that was

We need to make Reading suffer on Saturday, need a reaction after that, too many poor performances, James, Casey, Dougall, Lavery all poor tonight and Critch got the tactics horribly wrong. Well done QPR, that was deserved. We need to be a lot quicker with the ball and get it forward rather than playing round the back and to the keeper ad infinitum, it's painful to watch and achieves nothing.

Thought the ref had an excellent game tonight, can't blame anyone but ourselves really.

Shite defending for the corner and a goal from nowt. Should do better against 10 men really, I felt we lacked a cutting edge and nothing summed that up more than Connoly going backwards outside the box on our last attack allowing the ref to blow the whistle.

Another sickener, feel for those who made the trip.

Agreed, he will improve, thing is he shouldn't be on the pitch, it's our awful injury record and it showed all over the pitch tonight. We need players back now!
He needs games. Unfortunate to make his first start on such a bad night and without Marv or Keogh alongside him.

despite having lions share of possession second half QPR coped easily as we actually created very little by way of attacking threat or chances . To lose after equalising was poor and gutting 1-0 i would have sort have accepted.

It's a disappointing result and a bit of a lethargic performance.

A few concerns.

We struggle against set plays.

We struggle to break down a well organised defensive shape.

We concede far too many late goals for it to be down to luck. I just think we are knackered physically and mentally come 80 minutes, and don't have enough guile to see it out.

All that said; QPR were 4th going into the start of that game and I didn't think they were that good; sign of team going places - playing poorly and still winning.

That ending summed up a team with nothing to play for versus one with everything to play for. 21 points clear of the drop with 13 to play. Think there will be more games like this where some players are already thinking of their summer holidays.

In February? I doubt that. If they are then we don't want them.

Something is wrong mentally with the players, we come out asleep after half time and concede between 45 and 55 minutes or they start thinking about their shower on 80. That 6 poi ts we've pissed away in the last 10 minutes Bournemouth and tonite

We complain about officials and pray we get a bit of luck that always seeems to go the way of the opposition and tonight we had decent officials and got that luck. Unfortunately, Bowler aside, our players lack the bravery and desire to grab a game by the scruff of the neck. Too many sideways passes, not enough desire to beat a man, and absolutely zero interest in taking a shot. A lot of good players in our team but without that individuality and bravery they’ll only ever be good League 1 or average Championship players. Holloway somehow managed to break through that psychological ceiling and got a team of similarly able players to find that extra cutting edge and become very good players as a result. I truly hope a Critch and his team can manage the same trick as that’s absolutely what’s missing.

When was the last time the season was over in February?

It's quite relaxing really.
It is, but why put out a team like that when we are in this position, we lost against 10 men, should have played an attacking formation from the off, we wouldn't have done any worse. One of those nights. You can see where we need to strengthen when you see games like that.

Connolly has to score the header and Madine has to hit the target I know he was stretching for it but he has to get onto that ball

Tactics and formation all wrong in the first half and left us playing catch up. Based on tonight I will be happy to just stay in the division.

QPR closed us down so quickly soon as we stepped in their half our midfield had barely a millisecond on the ball .When your midfield isn't the greatest quality your always going to struggle they were lightening in the tackle just seemed to play at a different pace to us

50mins against 10mg now and we manage 2 shots on target. Dougall very poor again. Tinkering with the team hasn’t worked all season

NC rightly takes the plaudits... so he must take the flack .... got this game wrong from the off... negative set up and mindset against a team on a poor run... gutted by the late winner but we didn’t deserve anything ...
He’s way too negative. Just need to look at our abysmal away form. Why do we need to be 1 or 2 goals down before he changes it? Should be set out like that from the start. And what the feck they do in training, I don’t know. Not got a single player who can take a dangerous set piece.
