Theo Corbeanu (Confirmed)

Birmingham Mail -
Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed to loan forward Theo Corbeanu to Blackpool for the upcoming Championship season, BirminghamLive understands.
Canada international Corbeanu, 20, has just returned from Spain where he was part of Wolves’ 10-day training camp at the Melia Villaitana resort in Benidorm. The livewire forward featured in Wolves’ friendlies with Alaves, Levante, Besiktas and Villarreal B.

My wife and a couple of friends are Wolves fans and have never heard of him . However, they had never heard of Conor Ronan a few years ago and by all accounts he has had great pre-season for Wolves

Good report Hazi - that means the lad will be match fit and raring to go 🧡

A couple of Wolves assessments published earlier this month.

Their under-23 coach really talks him up, while Nuno said he still had some way to go (unsurprising, as he was only 18 when he made his first team debut)….

Corbeanu has the chance to impress Lage in the coming weeks, and there’s no doubt he will catch the eye. A unique ability to change pace without it being noticeable, equally brilliant technique with either foot which makes you question which is the stronger, and a chiselled frame that belies his tender years are just three of Corbeanu’s stand-out features.

Under-23s boss James Collins can name a lot more: “He’s athletic, tall, can head it, can defend, can dribble past people and score, he can shoot, he can pass, he’s both footed, he’s got a bit of everything. Theo can be anything he wants to be. He’s an outstanding prospect.”

Corbeanu, who is capable of playing right across the front line, was the stand-out player in Wolves’ under-23 set-up in 2020/21. First team manager at the time, Nuno Espirito Santo, wasn’t totally taken by the unpredictable forward though.

Speaking after handing Corbeanu his Premier League debut in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in May 2021, Nuno said: “You can see the way he approaches his duels, he has to become stronger because these are the high standards in the Premier League that we require. The talent is there but it requires a lot of other aspects in his game so he can become a better player.

“He has a good one-v-one offensively, he’s fast, but needs to improve. He’s one of the ones we want to develop and take him further for our future.”

I’ve put the same on another thread, but why? We need midfield players more than we need strikers, especially strikers who score 1 in 17 - ours are better than that already. And before people say he’s a winger, he’s not. He’s a striker who’s been played out of position.
On the video of highlights looks like a fast and tricky winger to me , might make it difficult for CJ or even Keshi anderson to get in the team.

BTW, just seen your starting 11 for Saturday, you’ve got the new left back we’ve signed right back 🤣

I know, I figured I'd play a full back in that slot rather than a DM even if it is his wrong side, Sterling was a RB, but many say he was our best LB when he played there.

Priceless 🤣

Based on what? At Wednesday he played left wingback. At MK Dons he played on the right side of attack. Canada's website refers to him as a "winger" in their articles and as a "midfielder" on the team lineup page.

He's 20 and he's played across the front line and at wingback. His "position" is what MA decides it is.

Should have waited until the squad was clear

Really irresponsible this
Will we have enough kits? Space I the changing room? Maybe get changed in car?

I am smiling because they’ve spent the past 2 weeks telling us why we weren’t signing players for us to then sign another left back to make it 3 and another forward 😁

Bless ‘em

And my Wolves season ticket holder mate reckons he’s a striker. Either way, he’s not the right back or CM playmaker we’re in more need of.

Ok, so let's say he played striker for them. He also made a total of 1 appearance for their first team and 4 appearances for their u23s. Between Wolves, Canada, Wednesday, and MK Dons, he's played the least for Wolves.

Oh, I also found a page on him from when he played for Toronto FC III as a 17 year old. They list him as a winger.

If you watch that YouTube clip he certainly plays out wide.
He's very direct and beats players with pace and power and gets in plenty of crosses and yes I accept it's a best bits highlights video.

We have been in desperate need of someone who can play on the left wing. Our other options right now are CJ, Keshi, and Shayne.

*edit: and that's assuming Bowler stays and doesn't get injured, in which case we're also then desperate for someone out right.

What a bizarre sentence.
yeah it is a bit. Watching his highlights though, I do like his drop of the shoulder change of pace burst past defenders he seems to do regularly. The two footedness makes him hard to play against by the look of it too, defenders really don't like that. Looks like he could be a decent addition.

Yeah I'm not knocking him, just whoever wrote that.
