CLUB ANNOUNCES INTRODUCTION OF DIGITAL TICKETING....

As said before, if they make it compulsory to have a digital season ticket then I’m not going anymore. It’s a absolutely joke, do they not understand that not everyone has a Apple or Android phone and not everyone wants to have everything digital in the event of a technical issue or when the global cyber attack occurs (It’s only like if you lost it physically).

Soon, everything will be digital and nobody will want to go out and watch football and they will just sit at home watching on Sky Sports with mostly empty stadiums.

I think I recall there was a debate on this on TalkSPORT Drive with Goldstein & Bent last week and most fans across the country would mostly be happy with a print-at-home option where they can have the choose of either showing it on your phone or you print is a e-ticket.

It's a great step forward by the way and hopefully can be extended for all ticket purchases at some point... Saves plastic, issues with lost cards etc...

This has been coming for a while. It's a general step forward, but there will need to be careful thinking through of the impact for those who share a season ticket on occasion to ensure it gets used (and yes I know that's very bad and not allowed according to the small print but football fans have been doing it since the black and white days).
Anyway, that aside, pleased to see we have already registered the first pre-emptive flounce 🤣

Incidentally.... In around 1980(something) I found a book of Season Tickets... The old rip out booklet style.... No details with it... So I kept it and went to the games for nowt for a season...

Some scallywag couldn't do that with this new fangled set up

They would just nick your phone, then you lose your ticket and you couldn’t phone the club .🤣🤣
 
Modern tech is all well and good when it works and if you understand it and have the tools to support it but there are many who dont and find it all confusing and off putting.
 
If you have to scan off your phone that will be fun…and that’s before you get started with those who are trying to download to their wallet using data around the ground!
 
There will be a lot of fans not going if this is enforced . I hate new technology ,but I probably will cope ,but if this is enforced then there will be fans that won't go because they don't understand how it works and they may not have people to help them . That's assuming they have a phone with the capabilities.
 
If it goes completely digital I would think you could lose fans who aren't tech savvy , don't have a smartphone and don't have a printer.

So common sense dictates you give them an option other than digital.

Going completely digital I can see the Club losing fans but not gaining any ,

It's very unlikely that the Club would opt to go entirely digital for the foreseeable. They're providing it as an option..

I was just going to reply the same. No sane owner would say this is the only option or no entry.

Have to say all for this and as a non ST holder hope they introduce this when buying a match ticket, only old skool i do miss is my concert ticket stubbs (got some great ones) :(

It says NFC, so it'll be tap against the reader like the ST is.

Why? There is the exact same amount of data about you when using a plastic card. Whether the nfc chip is scanned from a phone or a card makes so difference in that sense.
 
There’s no plans to get rid of cards, Apple Pay has been around for ages but people still have debit cards.

They’re not going to put something in place which requires people to own a third party piece of kit to be able to access the ground. This is just an option for people who already use the tech and choose to not carry a load of cards around with them.

I completely agree and do it myself.
 
When I clicked the apple wallet icon in the email, it went to Google and then nothing happened. It hasn't downloaded to my wallet and I've tried a few times

Edit: I tried Safari instead of Chrome and it saved to my wallet first time 👍
