Blackpool v Blackburn Official Matchnight Thread 31.08.22

Gave my youngest lad and his girlfriend our ST’s tonight….. good decision looking at how bad we are! This is supposed to be a derby and we look half asleep
 
Don’t think ever played as well and lost a game to a more one dimensional team than that. They are not a good side at all. Cannot believe we’ve lost that. They’ll be screwed when brereton diaz gets sold tomorrow.
 
1. We have no midfield, that is blatantly obvious
2. We cannot play out from the back, that is blatantly obvious
3. We have no natural finisher at the club
4. Diaz showed tonight on the big stage why clubs are after him, unfortunately Bowler didn't

A frustrating game where the opposition had more skill, more composure on the ball and more luck.
Sunday 4th is a bloody important fixture, see you there👍🏻

What a sh1t night... we came back into it slightly at the end but I feel like something was missing... experience maybe? We are a young side and still very much a work in progress. We can’t afford to be nice.
 
Only thing to say about that is at least the goal diff didn't take a hammering and Dan Grimshaw saved it from a beating.

Lets see if we can have an even worse evening tomorrow night now
 
Let's be fair best team won, but for Grimmy we'd have got buried. You can't just play for the first 10 and last 10. Having said that we're still in the game and should be scoring one of those headers.

Agree with pretty much all that. Grimshaw tre positive tonight, kept us in it and the score down. A lot of that game felt like a Prem team v a Championship one, the gulf was large.

That was bad….. very difficult to pick any positives out of that!
No one seem bothered, even Apples looked liked he wanted to be at home watching on Sky! Local derby my arse!
 
Unfortunately tonight we were playing 12 men with the referee clearly missing the penalty and the dangerous foul on Bowler.

But the lack of a fit creative midfielder and no strikers on the bench show that we still have to sign at least two players tomorrow.
Just not good enough up front for me.

That's what I thought . They ,somehow , looked that half a yard faster , more eager , more switched on than us .
We showed plenty of endeavour but they showed more endeavour and better cohesion.
A deserved 3 points to T Rovers 😬
 
We got done in midfield where they took us apart with one touch passing. Lucky it was only one nil although we should have had a blatant pen.

They had a soft but valid penalty shout too to be fair . Apart from the Leeds lad we had nowt on the bench and it showed. 7 games in and an injury list that doesn't seem to be shortening anytime soon.
Their 18 yr old MOM Wharton ? One of their homegrown lads and that makes a difference if you have a few of those types in your squad

Exactly that really. They did what we did to Bristol in the first half on Saturday, but Rovers were fit enough to pull it off for the whole game tonight. No excuses, rovers deserved to win.

I like the look of Poveda from his brief debut. Grimshaw shows us why he is a key player for us and apart from that... well, I hate losing to certain teams. I’m pissed off and I’m going to bed!

Deffo wasn't a pen for them, and should have been for the pull on Jerry.

Their player that got booked in the area had a good shout for a penalty, contact was made.
If I was a manager of teams we’ve got to play in coming weeks, that’s a dvd to show how to beat us. Pressure us playing out from the back, pass through our midfield on the counter and pick us off.
