2nd Ashes Test

Bairstow stumped Head. He must have danced down the pitch passed the umpire for that to happen.
It’s a good un, Founts!! Just wait until you see it!

I think the new ball could just fly around. Apart from Tongue our seam has been pretty feeble considering the conditions. A bit sad to see really. And it looks like the pitch is going to spin early too.

Agree - dunno if this is the start of the end for Broad and Anderson. Should have been all over them given the conditions this morning

Could be a combination of lack of match fitness and fatigue, even this early. Two older blokes playing five test in six weeks? Can't see that happening somehow. Come on England, one more wicket tonight.

Bloody hell, Vaughan is a right bloody moaner on TMS. He’s been waiting to pile into the new methods and he’s giving it big time. Boring dinosaur that he is, we haven’t batted yet FFS!
TMS has gone right down the tubes. The cult of Aggers lording it up and mouthpieces like Vaughan. Even Tufnell is hard work these days. We were pretty rudderless today. Let's see how we bounce back but we dont need anyone to tell us you can't afford mediocre sessions against the Aussies.

The pace bowling minus Wood and Archer is so easy to put away on a track that offers nothing, Jimmy looks like at the ripe old age of 40 his days as a Test player are numbered.

I though there was plenty in the surface and ground conditions but we didn't generally make the best of it. A slightly lazy performance on the whole. When we did put the right balls in they just missed the edges or we fluffed the chances. Jimmy looks a bit past his prime, that or he's struggling for match fitness. We're going to miss not having a lead spinner too. Plus it looks like Pope has properly twanged his shoulder. Selection at Headingley is going to be tricky.

Need to try our best to get out of this without losing to keep the series alive I think.
Agreed, the way the Aussies are going they'll rack up a decent total and have us in batting tomorrow afternoon with Mitchell Starc and co steaming in at 90 mph, tomorrow will go a long way in determining whether we are still in this series or not.

Aussies well ahead in this test and unless we get rid of their last wickets for less than 100 runs we're going to struggle.

Lords much better for the Aussie bowlers. Boland to have a field day.

Do we feel the venue atmosphere has an impact here?

Lords is full of stiffs compared to Edgabston, OT & Headingley and the Aussies have always done better at Lords.

The atmosphere at Edgbaston was great . . . Lords seems dead.

Starc is playing instead of Boland mate 👍
Yeah just noticed that actually, missed yesterday as was in meetings all day. Really peculiar on this wicket?

Smith is just too good. Aussies in firm control here, need to get rid of the other 3 as soon as possible.

Smith gone but the Aussies look set to post over 400. That's a bloody good effort given the conditions. Our batsmen need to dig deep to get close to that total.

Been working this morning, just catching up now : the scorecard looks much much better at the moment than I was expecting. Well done England…still in the game as long as we bat well.

England did well this morning, shame the game got away a bit yesterday - we need a solid start to our battings innings with our openers , otherwise can see a bad afternoon looming

Any good test match side should be able to get a first innings total of 350 to 400 if you are batting sensibly, in England. Time for England to occupy the crease and do it.

That's a good score in these conditions, probably 150 more than they should have got.
Correct.

And if all the England bowlers had've bowled with the same control as Jimmy, you'd have been spot on with about 270 all out.

Despite Jimmy being far from his best, he didn't bowl a succession of balls that were just put there to be smacked to the boundary.

Big innings for Crawley, he is good on good pitches but very weak when it favours the bowlers.

Also our weak pace doesn't help. Worried we will see the problem their extra 5mph plus brings

Got the radio commentary on in my workshop & TV on in Living room & also got 5live on laptop in kitchen. However it can be confusing if I hear things in wrong order
Radio is "live"
Sky TV + about 7 seconds
Internet + 35 seconds

Good comeback by England. To restrict the Aussies to 416 looked nigh on impossible when they were 300 or so for three yesterday evening.
Still a big score, but now a good start with the bat as well. Getting back into the game.
