Disinterest in the cup, the timing of the tie, Critchball or the cost of living catching up?

Probably a little bit of not wanting to line the Vegans pockets with gate money too.

But I'm sure some will find any way they can to blame someone

WAS there for the BARNSLEY game a couple of weeks back. this was the useless FA . nothing to do with the club. credit to everyone who turned out. including the mysterons from outer gloucester.

Sadly, for me, the FA Cup only really generates interest when a non-league team has the chance of a go at a league club. Too many Prem and FL teams pick their reserves nowadays. We will even pick a weakened team against Forest.

It's an interesting topic though. Has the advent of the Premier League and Champions League devalued what was at one time England's and the world's most prestigious competition. With teams from all walks able to enter and compete, the FA cup had a magic to it that other competitions simply didn't have and yet now we see an apathy to it that would a one time been reserved for the likes of the FA trophy or the league cup. And yet sometimes the magic still shines - look at Cray Valley at Charlton for example, for those Cray Valley fans it must've been akin to going to Wembley itself and for lower league teams that go on a good run, the magic re-ignites. It's just a shame it wasn't there tonight - it was a good game as a Pool supporter, the team never looked troubled, but the atmosphere was easily the worst I've ever experienced at BR. Ah well, on to Forest, let's hope the apathy abates by then.

There was no atmosphere it was like a papa johns game.Even the twenty or so Forest Green fans could be heard making some noise at times.

I counted about 100 or so Forest Green fans and even in the minority they were clearly heard.
Looking around the stadium you’d have thought the Stains had come back given the numbers and the atmosphere.

It actually struck me that in the last knockings of the boycott, there were fewer there than tonight yet the gate was brazenly announced as 4-5,000.

Thankfully Dom Thompson had more than enough enthusiasm to make up for the mute crowd.

I didn’t go last night so didn’t watch it or indeed listen to it on the radio as it was our boat clubs Christmas party night last night but that gate was just shocking I honestly thought we would get at least 5,000 on last night.
I assume FGR brought a few hundred which makes it even worse a home gate under 3k. 😮

There were around 100 FGR there last night.
I was a bit concerned that B block in the North was a bit threadbare, I shudder to think what could’ve happened if FGR had brought their Ultra’s last night. 😂

On??? Nobber

It was actually a pretty decent gate (as a proportion of normal home gates). Far less than we might have expected on a Saturday of course, but given Charlton, Derby and Posh all struggled to get more than 6,000 in, it is not really so bad at all.

The turnout and atmosphere reminded me of watching the reserves at Bloomfield Road in the sixties.

Agree with Diggers … ‘Premier League and Champions League have devalued what was at one time England's and the world's most prestigious club competition’

TBH … was having a chat in The Armfield about this pre-match … we still love the FA Cup 🧡 - it’s a good job that sometimes even their best new keys will not open our traditional old locks … 🤣
