30 Points at Halfway

At the seasons outset did any of us truly expect to be where we are now?.Being greedy I guess with a sharper start and better performances over the last month it could have been even better.

Taken as a whole and considering a whole litany of injuries we have come out of it very well.

My one wish for the second half of the season is that the natural instincts of the team are uppermost in Critchleys mind when allowing them freedom to go forwards and in particular selecting those that deliver just that.

Now we have played everyone he should have a decent angle on risk and reward and as Pool have shown repeatedly they don't need to set out just to"edge" results.

Nothing to fear on the whole and more than capable of competing.

Enjoy the weekend

The team is a victim of its own start to the season, before the season the concensus was survival will do, but we've looked better than that so people expect more.
Going on a 10 game run with title winning form skewed the situation. This season has showed me what it must be like being on heroin. Massive downer, followed by a huge high and then a massive downer again. I think we all just had another snort yesterday.

60 points is essentially a win-draw-lose approach to a run of three games. Obviously it doesn't manifest itself as uniformly as that but if we keep it broadly going in that gain we'll be in good shape.

We've had 3 bad days I think - Cardiff, Hudds and Luton. Aside from that, we have looked pretty tight and that is why we should stay in this league. Posh can bleat about us being as poor as them but we aren't, we are much tighter, and Critch has the ability to make that happen, and to understand how crucial it is. Fergoid doesn't. He's kind of immature isn't he?

So we have the basis, the foundation, on which to build, and that is the next part of the process and I'm sure the planning is happening. We are a well run club with a process of continuous improvement.

....and breathe, everyone.
20 more points in the second half of the season - probably fewer - to stay up, which "bigger" promoted clubs than us have failed to do.
A mid table finish would be a great accomplishment in our first season back, and that's looking increasingly achievable.

Yep, I'm sure January will see astute recruitment and we'll see a squad that's better equipped for a Championship future.

3 points for a win has always been massive, if we can have another little mini run it should be enough to cement survival. I think 46 will e enough this season.

We are definitely in a false league posistion based on the players and manager we have in charge, but can't complain about the points we have racked up. We should be able to get the 5/6 wins needed for survival with a few additions in January and then hopefully a bit of a clear out in the summer.

You’re deffo a wind up merchant. Either that or you don’t know how football works.

People can't keep expecting SS to 'dig deep'. I'm sure he doesn't have unlimited resources.

And tbf he's spent a hell of a lot already, both on and off.

If we are looking safe come mid Jan (we should have amassed 8/9 by the time we've despatched Millwall) I think he'll (should imo) wait until the summer when offloads can offset new wages.

Maybe a couple of good loans with a view to a perm, but nothing with a significant transfer fee, and yes I know loan fees can be expensive, but not so with a view to buy.

Agreed, we mustn't get into a "get your wallet out, Sadler" frame of mind.
We've already seen really good, canny recruitment, such as Lavery & Carey.

Maybe we'll go down the loan>perm route as you suggest, or pursue players who have just 6 months' contract left.
The difference now is that we have an owner who, like us, wants to see us improving at every opportunity.
And that will help the manager immensely.

I’m glad we’ve got through the inevitable bad run crisis of confidence spell. I think we will get more points in the second half of the season with Senor Critchley’s loan signing Simms up top.

At the start of the season, if someone had offered me 30 pts, 12th place and above the Nobbers at christmas time, i wouldnt just of snatched their hand off... i would of ripped their ** arm off 😆

Everyone going on about the 7 game winless run, it was only really the last 3 games which were poor:

Derby, Luton and Birmingham - poor. Zero excuse
West Brom - good point
Swansea - good point
QPR - we won, robbed by linesman
Stoke - winning goal scored by man who should’ve been sent off

The “been awful for 7 games” narrative is a complete myth. We’ve had a three game blip. Hopefully it’s over now

We've only beaten Peterborough, who have lost 11 of their 12 away games. I'm not sure the bad run is over! 🤠

A win yesterday was crucial, I'm hoping it will give us a bit of confidence back and room to improve again, to be where we are in our first season back at this level is seriously impressive. Its easy to get carried away and I think we did after a good run that put us close to the play off places.
This is a tough league for a newly promoted club with a handful of players who have played at this level before, competing with clubs with serious money.
We have to be patient and trust in the process that we are undergoing as a club, its hard because like everyone else I want us to be smashing teams apart, with loads of goals and sparkling football. We have to accept we may have to grind results out to stay where we are this season, the sparkling stuff can come later UTMP

i expected us to be top tenish at the start of the season and flirting more with the top six than the bottom six. So far seem to be about where I'd expected. Cardiff was an aberration, Huddersfield was a flattering result for them imo, Luton we just didn't turn up attacking wise which meant any errors at the back were punished. The only two bad games were Brum and derby, and in normal circumstances they were two winnable games.

Three goals and coming back from a goal down at home feels to me like it’s put to bed the demons from the run. Jerry will be like Superman once the kryptonite was removed from around his neck. Da da da da da…Jerry Yates….da da da da da… Super Yates!

Not just that...the selection too, inc subs.

Surprised that there should be any disagreements.
We are Blackpool. We should expect the occasional ‘kick in the…..’ but overall, this season is currently way above expectation.

Congratulations, Happy Xmas and Thankyou to all the people who have made this happen.

We’re holding our own.
This season is all about establishing ourselves, whilst the great work behind the scenes continues.
We can’t complain we’ve got a young team who are growing in this division, excellent support and an owner that is seeing the bigger picture for sustainability.

It's beyond my expectations, was just reading the "predict the final table" thread on the Hudders board and every single one of them had us relegated, with 90% saying we'd finish bottom. Loving it.

Well, that’s W. Yorkshire folk for you. Just think: “Last of the Summer Wine”.

Unbelievable when Derby have only 4 points. How recent were the predictions though?
