I'm not sure this year we are collectively good enough seems to be that final ingredient missing to put that all important run together, Rhodes barren run hasn't helped but the other forwards don't seem able to score Cj out of sorts and woeful away performances.

You wouldn’t believe that with 7 games to go we are only 3 points off a play off spot. We have been poor in so many games, and in others looked very comfortable and a hard team to beat.

The tone on this board has always been overly negative compared to what you hear at the ground or in the pubs with the younger generation.

Overall I wouldn’t be putting money on us to go up this season - the team is nowhere near as good as 2020 however we are 100% in the mix. 3 points off securing a play off spot with 7 games to go. We are still in this despite what is written on here.

I have been a big critic of CJ, but it is interesting that since we started playing full backs on the wing we seem unable to score goals. I wonder if it is time to unleash his pace and roll the dice? I don't think we have a great deal to lose.

We've got Stevenage and Lincoln, so given we hold our own destiny really... Come on laddssss...

For the record, we've mostly been s**t since Liam Manning left in November too, so like you @Chunkylad it's kinda mad we are where we are!
Difference is you guys were near enough top 2 with Portsmouth for a while at the start of the season so there has been a bit of a drop off there. I think Lincoln will get that last spot from this point onward their form is just ridiculous

Agree, unbelievable how we still have a chance of the playoffs

If Lincoln maintain their form then fair play. They are due a loss, and it'll be interesting to see how they cope if/when that happens. This break has come at a bad time for them in my opinion.

On current form Lincoln look good, Oxford are favourites for me but Critch pulls his finger out and get us playing we've a great chance, its wide open for that 6th spot.
'...but Critch pulls his finger out ...'

And therein lies the problem. I think he's got it stuck so far up his jacksy, it's gonna take the expertise of an a---h--e surgeon to help him prise it out!

I suppose the question is who can peak in the next 7 games and not who has peaked in the previous 39.
We have as much of a shout as any of the sides but we have to show we are capable.

When you compare our current squad to that squad which got us promoted to the Championship last time, there is no comparison. I really do not think we are good enough to make the top six!

Think there speaks an informed spectator. They will feel like we feel that we have been shit for most of the season. Lincoln might have also been shit but everyone at the club will be saying the P word without being mocked.

Winner of Oxford vs Lincoln ?
This Fridays game is a free hit as we are not expected to get anything from this . That said we then have 4 winnable games - but this is Blackpool - we will probably best derby them lose at home to Wycombe lol
We really don't have any room for a free hit.
If there's any truth in Derby's reported injury list & maybe a few nerves creeping in following their loss at Northampton then Critchley should send our lot out to get into them from the off 👊.
We live in hope.

As an Oxford fan, ideal outcome is ...

Derby need to right the wrong of Northampton...

Leyton Orient stop the runaway train at Lincoln (hoping the international break killed their momentum)

Bolton realise they still can do top 2 if they really try... (and whallop Stevenage)

And we just scab ANY old 3 points to build a bit of a gap for Monday. 🙏

The way Lincoln are scoring goals for fun reminds me of some of the sides we've had who have stormed the Play Offs.
Without Rhodes it's hard to imagine us scoring more than 2 per game the rest of the season.

Critchley's_proctologist - that would be decent username 😀

Goes to show had we have just applied ourselves in the last 3 games and got a win against Wycombe and two draws against Wigan and Derby we'd still be very much in this with our games left.
Oxford have Lincoln, Peterborough and Stevenage still to come and I'd be amazed if they get 12 points from those games. The Play Off Place was there for the taking and for his failings Critchley has to go.

Even to win last week would of st least made it interesting - not good enough for the play offs

Great results today! Big tests for us all in the space of a week! Before we get likely get spanked (again) by Bolton 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Still think Lincoln are in the driving seat with the pictures that remain - could well be that game against them is the decider.

Mad three home games for Oxford - win on Tuesday will just add a little bit of pressure for Lincoln and Oxford

Do you go round the pubs, round the ground and talk to all the younger generation pre-match then? Seems a bit made up this bit. You can only judge the feeling from those you know. In my world the people I know thing the football is dire despite the league position.

Let’s look at the table on Saturday night ( if we win both games)or even mid-week after Oxford face Lincoln.
Oxford also face Peterborough on Saturday.

If we play against Fleetwood as we played against Cambridge we will lose. Don't forget they put three past us at their ground before we evened it up, and I'm sure a certain ex Pool player will fire them up.

The young people I know who support Blackpool think AVFTT is a hilarious place full of moaning old fellas. To be fair, people of all ages I know also think the season has been quite boring.

And then what will the atmosphere be like in the ground. Doesn't bare thinking about.

I didn’t realise Oxford had such a tough run of fixtures, including Lincoln. We’re not quite out of this yet. Presuming we win these next two games (against 2nd bottom and bottom) the table could look interesting by kick off for the Barnsley game.
Not that we deserve anything out of this season btw

I laughed when I read that😁

Maybe that’s his strategy, hold on to the 1-0 lead against Cambridge and then go out and batter Fleetwood and Carlisle. Ok, I’ve had a couple of beers.

I was mainly referring to away games in the pub chatting with Pool fans and also my God son and his mates who are all 18-20. They just don’t seem as depressed as the posting tone on here.

No-one thinks it’s scintillating stuff but they still love going to games and being optimistic of a win and a good game.

I suppose it depends on who you hang around with and discuss games with? If it’s my father in law and the Facebook collective then yeah it’s in total doom and gloom.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, Oxford would deserve it if they got there.
The Oxford/Lincoln game resulting in a draw and us winning our game means potentially we're only 4 behind Oxford and 2 behind Lincoln - win on Tuesday and if their games in hand don't go their way then I guess it makes it interesting.
Would've been so much easier had we beaten Wycombe!

Stevenage v Barnsley looks tasty tonight - I'd say old Fat Boy's chance of getting a Play Off place will be over if they win tonight. And at one point I thought they were guaranteed 6th place.

IF we win on Saturday and Oxford and Lincoln do no better than a draw (very possible looking at their fixtures)
IF Oxford and Lincoln draw against each other
We go into the Barnsley game within touching distance of 6th place.

A weird end to the season. I thought after Cambridge I couldn’t see us getting them. After tonight’s win it feels doable again.

Don’t fancy us in them if we do but you never know do you

Lincoln still the form team - I can see them getting 7/8 points from their 4 games and so ironically is doable - all will become a lot clearer on Saturday.

After last night, still thinking Lincoln. Although they did get some injuries and a red card and we know Cheltenham away is never easy.
