And I think Sadler may pull the Rug from under MA...we need to to call most loanees back...The likes of Virtue, Dale, Apter and Tharme if possible, They cant do any worse...Appoint someone who can get the players to fight for the shirt every week and give ourselves a half season fighting chance of staying in the championship....send back the loanees who dont cut the mustard....line up 2 or 3 quality replacements and without being sentimental cut some of the deadwood in January....As Sam Smith sang....The Writing's on the wall.

One does think that even a positive result at Wigan will just lengthen the time for the problem to be resolved

They aren’t gonna do that and I just need to explain a few things.

They appointed Michael Appleton and it was a weird search after another weird search with Critchley.

They lined up 2 or 3 quality replacements in the summer but couldn’t do the deals.

So why is this going to change if they get rid of MA?

With the possible exception of Dale, the other players will add nothing at Championship level.

He can go now for me why wait till after Wigan?

Been watching him closely these last 3 defeats his stance never changes just stands there with his hands in his pockets, never talks to anyone never tries to motivate players, never gets in to the 4th official’s face (pen last night) he just accepted it when clearly it wasn’t a pen he just doesn’t look interested when we go behind.

4 year contract FFS. 🤬

Appleton isn't the problem! Bringing someone else in (Sadly Pep and Klopp have clubs) won't solve a lot.

The recruitment process is a mess. Too many targets missed, signing League One/Two players and expecting them to adapt to the Championship straight away is too much of an ask.

We have a League One squad with a few decent players at this level.

What would you do Phil? Give him 5/6 games after the world cup? He can't be given until the end of January.
It's not his fault the players are dead on their feet and we simply don't have good enough replacements

And I don't think you can underestimate how much we miss Bowler, selling him on transfer deadline day was a poor bit of business

None of our wingers are anywhere near as good as him

Appleton should be knocking down Bullshits door demanding 3 or 4 key players in January

We have lost Bowler our best player by a mile
Keogh our most experienced player and a leader of men
Stewart our best holding midfield player
We don't have a big suitable replacement for Madine
And we don't have a back up specialist right back

It's fcuking criminal not addressing any of the above, its like the board want us to go down

He was doing a great job just a couple of weeks ago?

Thought you had loads of players out ?

If your going to make a change surely give him till Xmas ?

Then maybe change before the window opens.

Plus you’ve got a lengthy contract to pay off

I blame Sadler for not getting over the line those players MA wanted. Managers can only pick a team from the squad he is allowed to have by the owner

Whilst I agree with all that Phil at the end of the day it’s the managers job to motivate his team.
Last night and the last few games Appleton has just stood there on the touch line hands in pockets when we go behind and his stance never changes, he should at the very least look a coach and get involved with the players which he fails to do.
He just looks totally uninterested at times he clearly can’t motivate people like coach’s should be doing.
For me Appleton is out of his comfort zone in the championship.

It was the manner of the performance last night that has created all the negativity on this board, and unfortunately there has been 4/5 games like this injuries or not!

Lose to Wigan and Appleton will be under pressure but doubt Sadler will pull the rug. What Appleton needs to do is wrap the players in cotton wool, get some decent coaching into the players and try to rebuild some belief. Mr Sadler on the other hand needs to free up some funds and give Mansford a kick up the arse to bring some additional quality into this squad in January.

New lyrics for the Patino song doing the rounds on our forum made me chuckle 🤭

Win at Wigan and it will be looking a lot healthier going into the break , get your lads back fit over the break , you’ll be reet

We aren't the only club that play football matches and have injuries mate. Appleton isn't devoid of blame.

I remember a thread just before the first game of the season stating it was a must win. In reality, it was 1 game from 46. We are in a tricky spot but stop panicking so much. This Qatar break is perfect timing for us with 15 players out injured and a new signing closer to being part of the squad.

The fans aren't idiots and know the club. Could well be that Reading at home first game of the season was must win. It's also why I didn't have a problem with the West Stand giving Appleton and Bowler grief after Swansea - it produced a response vs QPR which might also turn out to be a vital 3pts.

How many managers are ever given a 4 year contract, especially a controversial one, with no real positive history?
Crazy!!
We all knew that a poor run before xmas & he will be gone, with a massive pay off. Not rocket science!

Wonder what the half time talk was like, because it got worse second half.

Can't see them replacing MA.
How long is his contract? Have to pay it in full.
Besides which, is it MAs fault that we snowbound with injuries.
MAs job now is just to ensure that we stay in The Championship.
Do that and it's a fresh start next season.

Thing is Dave carry on as we are right now and we won’t be staying in the championship.
Something has got to happen pretty dam quick.

Have to say, his demeanour pitchside during the games is hardly inspiring...

We need his doppelganger WPC to take his place and fire up the lads and give the officials some grief! 😉

It isn't exactly going well is it. We seem to have the odd game where we play really well and win. Whenever we aren't at that level we lose. We can't seem to pick up points when things aren't going to plan. It would be interesting to hear who people would want to replace Appleton if he did go. Rob Edwards is available. Any other realistic names?

Rob Edwards would be a good shout, but doubt they'll get rid of Appleton yet.

A loss to Wigan and this board will implode😂
If we lose at Wigan I'm staying off here for a bit, as all these reactionary comments are getting tedious. FFS one or two wins & we are going up as Champions, then a few losses & that's it we're relegated. Yes it was poor the other night but some of the repeated bile on here is truly embarrassing.

Sooty youre deluded if you think we are going to be top half, never mind bloody champions. I need a pint of what you’re drinking !

All indications seem to be he'll be here after the break regardless of the result at Wigan. The Wigan game, though important isn't going to make or break him.

If we come back with a mostly fit squad (yeah right) and lose 3 in a row after the break, he's gone.

God knows who we'd bring in, I'm certainly not clamouring for that scenario to play out.

Where on earth did I say anything about top half's, I said a few wins & some people have us as automatic then a few losses & we are relegated. What were you drinking. 😂 Staying up will be a success this season for me & whilst I like many others hoped for better pre season, given the turmoil & multiple injuries, finishing above the drop zone is now the prime objective.

First we need a different scout. One that doesn't go to BLESMA looking for talent. (All respect to them all on this very day we remember the sacrifices they have made). A decent shout though from the OP, we are playing a surplus to requirement centre midfielder Grant Ward at full back and a not very tall utility player at centre half when we have our own players out on loan who are natural fit ins.

Didn’t you watch the Nobbers game then? 🙄

Yep, and Iron Maiden sang it a lot better. Doesn't mean it's relevant to us though.

Players who fight for the shirt every week. On Tuesday the team was dead on its feet. Boro won't get an easier game than that in years, because we were running on empty, some with their confidence shot at like Marv. Surely we can all tell the difference between a team that can't be assed and one that hadn't anything more to give at that time?

One last chance to score points, then a long break. Roar them on tomorrow folks.
