A solution to the parachute payment problem.

Just get rid of parachute payments it makes a mockery of the league apart from Leeds I can't think of any of the two promoted teams(not play offs) out of the Championship in the last ten years who haven't been in receipt of this.
 
I'm not sure there is a parachute payment problem. Apart from us, they're used to pay football players who aren't good enough to play in the Prem.
 
Get rid of them. Clubs that get promoted should offer players contracts with relegation clauses so that the players take pay cuts and or can leave for a reasonable fee if relegated back to the Championship.
Nobody should be earning over 30,000 a week in the 2nd tier it's crazy and has a knock on effect for all the clubs when it comes to recruitment and ticket prices.

We know they earn crazy money I just had to draw a line somewhere to make the point.
All the short career nonsense died years ago. Most of us don't have a career for life these days and most of us don't earn football type wages. I'm all for them making a good living but the wages that many of them receive defy all logic!

Unfortunately we can't make regulations in this country that affect other countries. So if we capped salaries in England the better players would simply play elsewhere and we have a devalued product. Yes what the top players earn is mad, but so is the pay for CEO's and senior management in business. It's not just a football issue, but football can do certain things to offset the stupidity like total salary caps for example.
