Abingdon Street Market

Fair points regarding security, but cards cost businesses serious money too. I think its about choice, let the customer decide

Edit to add. In our retail unit, the biggest users of cash currently are overseas customers, who literally bring their money with them. Now, it may well be the Market is for locals, but it is a limiting factor.
Cash costs a lot more to handle than card does now. Its been a long time since the reverse was true. That's unless you're not putting it through the books and avoiding tax or laundering it for criminals.

Thank God for that because some of the posts above make it's previous guise sound like a scene from Oliver Twist.

"We used to go to the gruel stall and then after that our nan would treat us to a nice bit of coddled pig's spleen in a dripping barm".
Delicious.

So with the stalls opening Nov 10th that'll complete the market, with them also at times having other pop up ones in there.

Finally then people who walk to the Abingdon Street entrance and can't read the sign will be able to find the market... 😏

Should be a good Christmas party venue, what time does it shut.

Looks pretty cool. Hope they have self service 😒
Yeah...

Obviously you've got some people moaning, only 12 stalls....

But who realistically used half of the complete tat ones from old type markets. I'm sure there could be far more but to me, a lot was junk.

They'll still have pops up's as well as and when.

The only thing missing for me is stuff like butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers etc.

Butchers has moved next door onto high street and when I spoke to fishmonger a while ago (now in Cleveleys) because of the smell that comes with raw products and being open plan he didn't expect an invite.

I'm not sure too many people use fishmongers these days? If so you can just go to a supermarket.

There's a good butchers in town already, just outside the Market. Also there's the bread basket for pies, deli, cakes etc. You've also got abingdon street bbq.

There seemed to be fruit and veg in one of the stalls. Also there's hive just round the corner.

Fishmongers in supermarkets are rubbish. At least there's Lanigans in Lytham. Otherwise I'd have to go to that fish town.

Good article on new stalls in Abingdon Street Market including a record store.

A bit of a look round too.

Can also see 2 new eateries.

Looks like cowboy and Co gone and replaced by the Mexican one.

Also a pasta one which I don't think was there before.
