Afghanistan thread closed

I’am not surprised it got locked as that numpty Recidivist got all shirty and started throwing his dummies out of his pram.

Threatening abusive language was used towards another poster was just disgusting and were rightly deleted before the thread got closed.

I’ve never read comments before we’re someone actually took the piss out of our soldiers who were killed in this conflict just disgusting to read.

Let’s hope he’s banned as well.

Ok, I get that, but why weren’t those posts removed and the posters suspended, instead of closing the thread. We have free speech in this country and debate can’t be closed down because of a few bad comments. The example would be banning all fans from a football stadium because a few made homophobic, or racist comments, or caused trouble. They would be penalised, not the entire crowd.

This is wrong and needs sorting.

Agree to some extent they were warned to take it to a personal chat then surprisingly it got locked and those comments I refer to got deleted.

I’am more in shock why the travellers thread got locked to be honest just general honest people’s opinions.
 
Sometimes we lock threads temporarily as they are spoiled by two or three individuals who can't seem to post without being offensive to others or using abusive language. Appreciate the Afghanistan issue is a big one and so has now been reopened.

No surprise there. He's on this forum purely to cause trouble. Obnoxious individual.

Maybe you could get your act together and remove his deliberate use of his avatar which is done simply to try and cause offence..

Only yesterday, there was another thread in which a poster was allowed to make a "knuckle dragger" comment about another poster without justification.

Allowing posters to behave in such a manner and allowing such posts to remain on the forum does nothing for the standards of the forum.

I appreciate that often the job of the moderators is a thankless task but no fair minded person would review the thread in question and come to the conclusion that the offending post should be allowed to remain.

If you moderate in line with personality of posters and not on content of posts you are not helping matters.

I thought that was just a bit of banter, I don't see anything wrong with injecting a little humour occasionally even in a serious discussion. We all know Reci is a wind-up with just the occasional serious point to make, let's accept that and carry on.
