Americans pushing back on woke

8 interests me, because "you respect others' rights" doesn't appear to extend to the right to disagree with any opinions they hold, an interesting example: I was hounded out of Oxfam over JK Rowling

For Maria, the chance to work for one of Oxfam’s global outreach programmes, helping to end violence against women in the workplace, was a dream come true. And for a few years, it was — right up until the moment a fellow co-worker asked on an internal messageboard if Oxfam shops should ban the sale of J.K. Rowling’s books.

Maria had come to the defence of Britain’s most popular living author, asking for evidence of Rowling’s supposed transphobia. It was a decision that prompted a gruelling internal investigation, one in which Maria struggled to clear her name, led to her having a nervous breakdown and leaving both her job and the country.

Seems that Oxfam just can't help themselves: Oxfam 'demonises JK Rowling as anti-trans caricature' in Pride cartoon

Oxfam has been accused of attacking JK Rowling over her views on transgender issues in a controversial Pride cartoon.

On Tuesday the charity cut out a section of a social media video which appeared to reference the author with its depiction of a woman with a similar hairstyle and outfit wearing a “terf” badge.

Kathleen Stock, a gender-critical feminist and academic, suggested the figure was supposed to resemble Rowling, although a spokesman for Oxfam denied any similarity was intended.

A spokesperson also claimed to have a large supply of magic beans available at a very good price.

Oxfam really ought to know better.

They've only just cleared the decks for ignoring the rape and abuse carried out by its staff in places where women (the real kind, not the imaginary one) were desperate for money.

Disgusting.

Total f***ing insanity: Pupil who questioned classmate ‘identifying as a cat’ called ‘despicable’ by teacher

A Church of England school teacher told a pupil she was “despicable” after she refused to accept that her classmate identifies as a cat.

The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded by their teacher at Rye College, in East Sussex, on Friday at the end of a Year 8 class on “life education” in which they were told they can “be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you”.

The row, which has infuriated parents, was allegedly sparked by one of them asking a fellow pupil: “How can you identify as a cat when you’re a girl?”

Their teacher told them they were being reported to a senior leader and were no longer welcome at the school, part of the Aquinas Trust, a Church of England network of 11 schools, if they continued to express the view that only boys and girls exist.

This has got to stop.

It's a hoax. The Torygraph is just republishing a variation on a story which has been thoroughly debunked. People are wagging their tails to the dog-whistle politics!

Multiple other outlets are running the same story, plus:

A spokesman for Rye College said: “We are committed to offering our pupils an inclusive education. Teachers endeavour to ensure that pupils’ views are listened to, and encourage them to ask questions and engage in discussion. Teachers also aim to answer questions sensitively and honestly.

“We strive to uphold the highest standards across the school. We will be reviewing our processes and working with the relevant individuals to ensure such events do not take place in the future.”

So the school itself isn't denying the story.

Not really a hoax. I work with a lady from Birmingham and at her childs’ school a kid has been identifying as a cat for a while. ‘It’ gets special time during the day for milk breaks and naps.

This is the problem. Rational people are shocked by the extremists, but only on the opposite side.
I'm shocked and disgusted by the extremists on both sides.

Ideologically, in terms of American politics, I'd probably align myself with the Republican Party, but the Republican party of McCain, Reagan, Eisenhower and Lincoln, not the Republican Party of Trump, Palin and Bachmann

I'm thinking about self-identifying as a rabbit, after all we've obviously fallen down a huge rabbit hole, and since no-one else has big ears and a tail by a process of deduction that means it must be me.

I take it you don't have any children, grand-children etc being taught this bollocks.
I didn't rate my step-son's secondary school but he has turned put to be a well adjusted individual. My grandson is only 15 months old but when his schooling time arrives I will be confident that his parents and his schools do the right things by him.

I'm not confident in the schools, and it shouldn't be necessary for the parents to correct what the children are being taught there.

Yeah it's worrying. Very concerning what madness kids are being taught in school, all pushed by a tiny tiny minority of extreme trans activists.

There are some on here who must live for the next opportunity to be outraged.

There are some who are complicit in this madness.
So you’re ok that a teacher is telling a pupil that perhaps she needs to find another school - for having the audacity to say she doesn’t agree another pupil should identify as a cat?
Well done to the child for standing their ground quite articulately.
Do you think we are wanting to be outraged by this type of stuff? No. We don’t. We just want kids to have the right to speak their own mind and not have to conform to weird ideologies being forced on them by leftist weirdo teachers.
The child is right. Someone identifying as a cat is indeed mentally ill - and the rest of the kids shouldn’t be persecuted for refusing to accept this utter nonsense.

Look at who’s liked this post. It’s the leftists.

The story isn’t a hoax.

Why does the left support this nonsense? It shouldn’t be an issue across party lines but the left can’t help themselves. They have forsaken women’s rights so that ‘people with penises’ can roam about women’s safe spaces and infiltrate women’s sports.

If the story is true then it’s absolutely outrageous. 5 years ago you’d get sectioned if you identified as a cat, and rightly so.

Surely it’s a hoax, it would have been all over the main news if true,

Hahahaha.
This sort of stuff on the mainstream media? You’ve got to be kidding.

You can listen to the audio yourself and from that it’s clear it not fake.

It’s all over Twitter and there’s many MPs who have retweeted it plus other credible people. Of course there’s the odd story where everyone is hoodwinked, but this doesn’t seem that at all.

A few months ago I posted to highlight that the self identification trend had adapted, as being another gender was no longer ‘out there’ enough.

So people who wanted to be more different and get more attention, had started identifying as animals and objects. It’s pathetic. The school should be telling the person identifying as a cat, that their behaviour is unacceptable and that they won’t be pandering to it. Not can they identify as a panda and be pandered to.

There’s a debate to continue about other genders but we shouldn’t have schools admonishing kids for standing up to this insanity and speaking common sense and truth.

The MSM don't want to report on this so it's left to TalkTV and GB News to highlight this nonsense.

BBC and SKY etc have become so Woke not wanting to upset anyone they are now becoming part of the problem.

Probably the child is taking the p***; it's the "adult" taking her seriously that seems to have the mental malfunction.

Nike were boycotted by right wingers as woke for using a trans athlete to promote their sports bras. Sales went up as a new demographic supported the athlete.

Well done.

And it seems something similar happened last year.

There may be a reason the stories aren’t being repeated in the MSM and reputable press.
It’s interesting that the deputy chair of the Conservative Party has announced that his party should fight the next election on the “culture wars and trans debate”.

No doubt we’ll have to suffer a big increase in these sort of posts from Lost Seasider and his Tufton St chums over the next year or so.

If nothing else it highlights how bereft of ideas the Conservative Party really is.

👍

It’s up there with the “EU demands straight bananas” and “left wing council bans black bin bags” stories from years ago.

Both shown to be complete bollux but enthusiastically endorsed by certain people with an agenda. And probably still believed by some.

Yep, the culture war is the last refuge of the scoundrel, now that patriotism has been exhausted and immigration is back-firing on them.

A lot of the ills of UK politics today are pretty much summed up in the words "Lee Anderson" and "Tufton Street"...

Yep.

It’s getting to the point that when a Tory politician or media pundit says anything now the only safe option is to assume it’s completely made up. Until proven to be true.
