Does anyone remember the Wimpy in Blackpool? Where was it and when did it shut?
Was further down towards Coral Island, opposite what is now TK Maxx.I think it was where the current Harry Ramsden's is , shut in the 90's ?
I don’t remember that one to be fairAm I am imagining it, or was there a Wimpy on Victoria Street near the Winter Gardens? Further up from the entrance to the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre?
That shut after Wimpy didn't it? Hated that place because my parents used to spend hours in there whilst I stood there boredIt was opposite C&A
Who remembers THAT?
Those prices
Thats exactly where it was...also remember the one opposite Macdonalds but not the pleasure beach.Am I am imagining it, or was there a Wimpy on Victoria Street near the Winter Gardens? Further up from the entrance to the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre?
Nah - loved their KingsizeMcDonald's has over 36,000 restaurants in the world and 1300 in the UK. Wimpy now have 71. Who was it who said wimpy were better? They all closed down for a reason, they were shit.
They closed down in the same way VHS video recorders overcame betamax.McDonald's has over 36,000 restaurants in the world and 1300 in the UK. Wimpy now have 71 and 4 of them are in Liverpool . Who was it who said wimpy were better? They all closed down for a reason, they were shit.
One of the reasons Betamax failed is because they refused to allow porn on their platform. They closed down in the same way VHS video recorders overcame betamax.
The marketing was far better on the side of McD's and VHS
Neither Wimpy or Betamax were shit

Ziggies, on Dickson Road, behind the Claremont Hotel. Was further down towards Coral Island, opposite what is now TK Maxx.
Far better than Maccies. Think it shut early 90's. I had a Wimpy birthday party there when I was about 6.
Used to love Ziggies too until that closed :(
That one was turned into a Burger King within weeks of opening as a Wimpy. What a waste of a brand new outfitted premises that was!I think it was where the current Harry Ramsden's is , shut in the 90's ?
Not a lover of Spoons but Andover was the best i've been in.There is a Wimpy in the place I currently live Andover (moving back to FY6 later in the year) and i have never been in it. It is right next to a Greggs so gets very little trade.
Gosh that’s a blast from the past. Kids birthday parties in there were met with rave reviews. Poor old Mr Wimpy just used to get battered by youngsters bored of doing the “Superman”. They had an upstairs function room at the one near Coral Island.Ziggies, on Dickson Road, behind the Claremont Hotel.
Remember that one fondly, used to go in as a treat as a kid. There was one you could sit in and eat on Clifton Street. Quality
Only been in their once in the 30 months i have been here! Spoons serves a purpose but its not a place a spend much time in.Not a lover of Spoons but Andover was the best i've been in.

Ronald McDonald had his train which were fitted out as kiddies seats if I remember correctly trying to squeeze into them.
Daughter lived and worked in Salisbury before coming home in 2011. The one in Salisbury is a one visit job.Only been in their once in the 30 months i have been here! Spoons serves a purpose but its not a place a spend much time in.
@southshorepool said the same to me once. Just before we tried playing hide the sausage again in TorquayThere’s still a Wimpy in Rotherham. Love a bender in a bun
Spot on Hampshire! It was there for quite a long time. I remember it well...Am I am imagining it, or was there a Wimpy on Victoria Street near the Winter Gardens? Further up from the entrance to the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre?
Yes. I used to enjoy working there. Cockney John who owned it was a real character.Anyone remember Dylans on Clifton St burgers were very good.
Yes that is exactly where the first one was. I used to be always in it. They had those linked up mini juke boxes on each table and they cooked the burgers for you at the counter. Brilliant and the burgers were great. Eventually closed and then a new one opened up near Coral Island and I think there was one next to Rileys on the corner if I remember rightly.Am I am imagining it, or was there a Wimpy on Victoria Street near the Winter Gardens? I said it. From memory I preferred Wimpy to McDonalds Frisbees, the same way I prefer Burger King to McDonalds now.McDonald's has over 36,000 restaurants in the world and 1300 in the UK. Wimpy now have 71 and 4 of them are in Liverpool . Who was it who said wimpy were better? They all closed down for a reason, they were shit.
Yeah Dylans was good. Anybody remember Piggies on Deansgate ? You have to go upstairs and the burgers were chargrilled. Very good.Anyone remember Dylans on Clifton St burgers were very good.
