Anyone we've played this season who you would be interested in signing?

One of the harder things about watching games on ifollow is getting that view of the opposition and trying to understand who looks a decent player.

It stands to reason to me that the best way of buying players to develop them is to pick up the better players from the league(s) below the one you're in. But i have to admit, I wouldn't have a clue where to start this time round. Anyone got any thoughts?

Another area to look are players who played for relegated Championship teams last season who might be out of contract. They have a year of recent experience at that level and may not want to drop down a league. Akinfenwa is one that is available if we have room in our squad.

He has a good reputation that’s true, but I thought we nullified him. He’s a bit in and out as far as I can see…but under the Critch could be interesting.
he did disappear in both games, but some moments before that were pretty sensational I thought. Sometimes surprising how young players progress I think, a bit like Simms. Agree if Critchley and team could get him more consistent, looked a heck of a player to me.

Danny Mayor - Plymouth
Joe Pritchard - Accrington
Alfie Doughty - Charlton
Malik Wilks - Hull
Charlie Kirk - Crewe
Brandon Barker - Oxford

Six wingers who caught my eye this season

I would look at bringing Barry Bannan back from the Wendies

The wide player from Gillingham would fit into our system, think his surname was Graham, don’t think he’d cost the earth either👍

Agreed we should also be looking at the relegated Championship teams for players as well.

To name a few:

Josh Windass, a forward who can play up top or on the wing from Wednesday: 9 goals and 5 assists last season in the Championship. Only 27.

Daniel Barlaser, a CM from Rotherham who scored 3 and assisted 4 last season. Only 24 and could be useful as we'll need more goal contributions from the Midfield in the Championship.

Barry Bannan, we all know him and he's certainly aged since we last saw him (31 years now), but he scored 2 and assisted 5 last year and could help us with experience and goal contributions from Midfield.

Definitely Charlie Kirk from Crewe.
Possibly some quality experience in midfield from either Ollie Norburn at Shrewsbury or Max Power at Sunderland.
Alex Palmer could provide competition from Lincoln for Maxi.
Cameron Brannigan from Oxford and Brandon Barker.
We must sign Luke Jephcott from Plymouth though……

Kyle Joseph (Wigan) missed the rest of the season after a back injury he picked when he played against us in the 0-5 defeat. Think he has a lot of potential to develop into an excellent striker.

Got to be kidding about Max Power? Some Sunderland fans claim he's their worst player ever. And did you see him shoot from 35 yards in the last minute of the semi final when they needed a goal and their entire team was in the box waiting for a cross? No thanks

Stephen Crainey was voted Leeds United's worst ever left back wasn't he?

Don't recall DJ Campbell being very well thought of at Leicester either......

Best Sunderland player at Bloomers was Leadbetter

but I base that o n one match

mcgeady would be handy if fit and bothered

Here’s what in my opinion are league 1’s best players from each club which we could buy, before I start I’m not saying we should buy all of them but might buy some of them and I’m also excluding Hull and Peterborough because they will be in the championship same as us next season, what do you reckon?

Thought Brennan Johnson of Lincoln played well on Sunday but he's a Forest loan player and am sure they'll be quick to take back both him and Gabriel .. although, for me, I was a bit underwhelmed by Gabriel and wouldn't be that disappointed if he returned to Forest.

Charlie Wyke (if he’s happy being the boy we throw on for 15 minutes when we need a goal, although depends if Madine stays)

Jorge Grant (10 goals 8 assists from midfield I think he got this season, creative mid would be a good addition)

Jordan Graham (winger from Gillingham caused us some issues, free agent who’d no doubt develop under Critch)

Scott Twine (just to wind up Swindon fans again)

James Hill (I think was his name, young centre back from Fleetwood, stood out against us I thought)

That winger for Lincoln, can't think of his name, played on the right wing. He caused us massive problems in the first 15 minutes. Infact he was there only real threat all game.

I hope we are looking at some of the stars of the Scottish Premier, the relegated teams from the Championship, the European leagues and cast offs from the Premier League aswell as lower league star players.

I am sure we will sign the odd duckegg (as in Sarkic and Lubala) but in general our recruitment has been excellent and we have upgraded every position and replaced everyone who has left or be loaned out from the club with better players. The way we ruthlessly discarded Fonz, Spearing and player of the year Feeney was criticised by some but we upgraded with all their replacements which was the key to going up. I hope we are similarly ruthless this season and guess some fans will be critical when some players who won promotion either leave the club or become back up players.

The future is very bright and very tangerine...lets all stay united together and enjoy the ride.

Read on the BBC Website that Sunderland were interested in signing Dion Sanderson from Wolves.
A 21 year old centre back who played on loan for them last season. Their best run of form ended when he got injured,

Might be worth an enquiry ?

Stan53

PS Wolves recently signed a promising centre back from Grimsby….. Matt Pollock………If Sanderson is not available then maybe he would be a loan target

Wes Burns, surely you are joking?

In all honesty, I don’t know who Fleetwood’s best player is as I think Fleetwood have been garbage this season and the reason I’ve gone with Burns is because he’s been there for a long time, has he not? If he’s not Fleetwood’s best player who do you think who’s the best player for Fleetwood?

We didn't play against him but we know him well :Conor Ronan. I see he's on loan at Grasshoppers Zurich. Anyone know how long that loan is for? UTMP

Charlie Kirk would make a great captain in your trek to the Championship, and put a beam on all of your faces.

Fleetwood will want telephone numbers for James Hill...you can forget that one as he is well out of our budget
Fair enough, can’t say I’ve seen anything of him since we played them, just thought he looked decent for a young lad - my 5 suggestions were just for a bit of fun without any proper ‘detail’ going into the reasoning behind them
