Appleton got potted

Ffs. New manager bounce on Saturday then

They're obviously not an amazing side, let's beat them for taking an Appleton reunion away from us.

Also we've seen what can happen when a manager is changed, it can lead to chaos and the confusion from mixed messages.

Appleton must have made more money in compensation than for actually being a manager.

The man has been stealing a wage for the last 10 years......
Somebody better check that Phil isn't having a go at the Charlton fans for not giving Apples enough time or support.... 🤣

I think he did get a rough deal but he should never have got within a thousand miles of the manager's job with us, it was one of the worst managerial appointments of all time followed by the worst!
In what way was it a rough deal? He got three months more than he should have done. Should have been binned before the World Cup break, not mid January.

Empirical facts will not override my feeling that there is a new manager bounce.

The decisions being made by the club were all over the place. Critchley leaving really threw a spanner in the works and instead of dealing with it they managed to make a total balls up of it. It wasn't his fault they employed him, that rests squarely on Sadler's shoulders and then they didn't support him with the players he needed for his system and no fucker other than Sadler wanted him as our manager so I would say he had a really rough deal and we paid the price because, as you say, he should have been potted earlier, and certainly not replaced with McCarthy.

If we end the season well and get in the play offs then he will have admonished himself a bit, if we go up he will be lauded. if we end the season with a whimper then the spotlight will be on Sadler's ability to pick a manager. I have a feeling the manager and players are up for it and the supporters need to be too and as they say take each game as it comes.

Given the knowledge that Appleton was unpopular first time round & whatever happened with Rosenior really threw a spanner in the works & they panicked I think, it put him on a collision course before a ball was kicked, crazy appointment & it certainly knocked me for six when his name came up as a contender, never mind the fuck ing manager. I did however try to get behind him, just as I'm trying to get behind Critchley now & he started to win me back then made some strange team selections & it dipped a bit. As long as he plays his strongest 11 same as Saturday preferably he'll get my backing & that means Connolly starts on the bench as cover for a few positions if needed.

If they win it doesn't mean there was one, if they lose it doesn't mean there wasn't.

We'll never know what would have happened.

Saying that he often seems to preside over a shambles, so it can get better, but we're also well aware it can get worse and confidence is a hard thing to get back.

I don't think you understood my point, the data will not stop me from believing in something that has been proven as false, no matter how many numbers you throw in my face.

I despair at how well Charlton will play against us on Saturday.

Michael Duff seemed to be the front runner and is available. However, it appears FFP rules may be a factor, having to pay off Appleton and what they can afford to offer Duff? It may be that they go for an interim Manager/Head Coach with Chris Powell and Lee Bowyer to see them to the end of the season. Talk about bad timing though, pressure on the Manager is often transferred to the players and now that has dissipated. Charlton have some decent players and will be a dangerous opponent on Saturday.

Yeah massive OG from Sadler not sacking him after that Wigan game. 4,000 pool fans gave him a big enough clue. There were a few decent managers up for grabs at that point too!
Sacking him.then would have given the new manager 4weeks to work with the squad before a game. It would have also given them 5/6 games to assess players in games before a full transfer window.
I was resigned to our fate from that point, it seemed inevitable.
