Applicants for BFC Manager?

Will the Board actually advertise for the vacancy, or have they already decided who they want?
If they advertise, will Evo actually apply?

I would hope (and pray) that we are way beyond advertising it.

If the person isn't in a managerial role now you'd hope an appointment is imminent. If they are it will be when contracts expire, June 1st???

It'll be the usual mixture of available managers and targeted coaches. If we were underwhelmed with Appleton and had the draw of being a Championship club, I think some may need to lower their expectations. 😔

I thought Chris Badlan was tasked with sorting this one.

Sure they will have spoken to potential candidates by now.

By all accounts Richardson, Critchley and Adam have all had informal discussions. No doubt the Man United coach we approached in December will be another. As much as I don't like Nathan Jones, I think he could be the man to work wonders with us.

If the board's doing its job properly, surely they should maintain a list of names, updated monthly, of possible replacement managers should the need for a replacement arise at whatever time.

The fact that we ended up with Mick has to put that in doubt.

The next manager has to be someone that everyone can unite behind and that isn't Critchley
I don’t think Critchley will come back but you must remember that football supporters are the most fickle of all and if Critchley did come back and, for example, won his first 5 games, then all his shenanigans from his last stint would simply be forgotten.
Anyway, he’s probably as Leicester now cleaning Gerard’s boots.

If its between Richardson, Adam and Critchley which I really hope it's not then whatever your view of him personally, Critchley is light years ahead as a coach and woukd be the best pick.
Unfortunately I have got a horrible feeling they are gonna go for Richardson which will be disappointing considering how sh1te he was with Wigan in the championship and their long ball game being so exposed as being inadequate prior to binning him off.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they went for a long ball merchant.

I mean, Mad Mick, ffs.

They talk about ‘The Blackpool way’ and how we are going to play this progressive, modern, exciting football, then appoint washed up duffers like Grayson Mk2 & Mad Mick, and the unsuitable Appleton. Talking the talk, but the reality doesn’t match the theory.

Don't think Richardson is anywhere near as bad as you make out. He done the best out of the Wigan managers this season, yet they still sacked him. They won League 1 convincingly last year.

He won't be such a bad one. You literally mention about Richardson being crap with Wigan, but what about Critchley with QPR? He was even worse.

We need to drop this going back to ex managers nonsense.

Richardson's CV is probably better than Critchley's plus he used to play for us. Winning L1 under poor owners as opposed to going up via the Play Offs. Leam wouldn't be the worst choice as he will have a good understanding of L1 and hopefully players that fit within our budget.

Badman did identify some potential canditates but I've no idea how far that list has taken us.

And if he didn’t win his first five it becomes a repeat of Appletons second coming. League One is a tough league, don’t underestimate it.

Dave i doubt it on both points remember this BLACKPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB no one ever knows since pre Oyscum era.

It was just an example Dougz in response to Walthamstow stating that Critchley wouldn’t get the backing of the supporters

Cannot for the life of me fathom why people keep suggesting Evatt will ‘apply’. He’s flying at a club on the up who have backed him, have bigger crowds and a developing squad… Oh I will just bun all of that because I used to do bits at Squires Gate?!
It's a bit silly isn't it.

It would take a fortune to bring Evatt in and a whole host of assurances on funding etc

If MM did resign then maybe not especially when we are not sure which league we’ll be in. Maybe now they’re waiting to see how Dobbie does.

Sorry, just can't see the logic in the Charlie Adam option he needs more on his coaching CV if I'm honest. If he does ok I'd rather stick with Dobbie than go for Richardson, who had one good season at Wigan. Critchley is one of them as Brett would say. I don't get this love-in with the fans being a key requirement, it's more about winning games and developing young players. Eric Ramsay is at one of the biggest football clubs in the world and highly regarded by Ten Haag so I would be amazed if he's a realistic option.

First choice Critchley - has won promotion to the Championship and kept us up
Second choice Richardson - won the League One title last year
Third choice Wellens - about to win promotion to League One for the second time

I'd give the job to Charlie Adam in League 1. If we stayed in the Championship someone else, but no idea who.
I loved Charlie as a player, but I'm not sure about this. He would be being appointed solely because of his playing career. There are better ex-players than Charlie that have done more coaching, like Kevin Phillips. There are also many individuals who we have more evidence of them being good coaches/managers. Take the emotion out of it and Charlie isn't the best candidate. It would be a complete stab in the dark.

Have we not learned any lessons from the past.....we do NOT want past managers...we've been let down by them all....an enthusiastic young manager with some experience should be our priority. Anyone wanting Critchley or Adam should be ashamed to think they would be a good fit.
