Are we stronger than we realise?

So many people are focusing right now on Josh Bowler's departure but it looks like we have a gem in Callum Wright who may well go on to do even better than Josh did.

With Poveda looking decent too and the injuries starting to gradually clear up over the next few weeks, plus a bit more time on the training field getting accustomed to the new style, then we might end up seeing that the pack is now stronger overall than what we had last season.

It's Mood Swing City on here. After the QPR and Burnley games it was all cock a hoop. One defeat and it's all change again. Jekyll and Hyde United.
exactly it reflects society as a whole these days. Just go to the footie, support your team and dont take it all too seriously. Bowler is the same player most people were slagging as useless not so long ago. Im looking forward to seeing some of the new players, only weakness i see is up front but hopefully beesley will be back soon

Anyone fancy anyone on here ?

It's a good question so every credit for that. However only time will give us the answer.

If we had such a gem in Wright, one thing for certain- he wouldn't be here.

Crainey and Wright. The former had his clubs fans slag him off and we laughed at it when he turned out ace. The latter, his club's fans rave and we're prepared to take that as gospel. It's like 'I think therefore I am' mentality round here, believe what is convenient.

Exactly. The West Stand were booing Josh two weeks ago and he issued a public apology on twitter. Now he's completely irreplaceable.

Get a grip people.

The shining light from this transfer window for me right now has been Thompson, absolutely love the guy already and he has been one of our better players so far this season. Our LB dilemma has been solved with him. Looking forward to see what Wright can do as well as they're alot of hype around him at Leicester and we've got Lyons joing in January. It's gonna be an interesting season.

If you don't take the stats, fans of former club's opinions and the judgement of our recruitment team into account when weighing up the prospects of a new signing then what exactly are you supposed to go off?

Maybe you could just accept that the people in charge know much more about how to run a club and what they are looking for than any of the wet wipes on here.. ..

Bowler will obviously be missed. He has his limitations but was far ahead of any of our attacking players in the skills he showed and the threat he posed to opposition defenders which is why he often was marked by up to three defenders.

Let`s face it our current three front players, Madine, Yates and Lavery may show lots of endeavour but little imagination ,flair or even finishing skills.

These are early days and we have made several interesting signings both permanent and on loan .We must hope they more than make up for the loss of Bowler who as a free signing and now sold for a big transfer fee has certainly helped the club`s finances .Let`s hope they can now make the most of it and capitalise on it.

It also doesn't mean the Leicester fans are wrong about Wright though. They're an angry bunch at the minute for obvious reasons. So I'd take their views with a pinch of salt. Certainly.

Worryingly light in midfield and defence, one or two injuries and we could be in trouble, that said the players that have come in are good, and there are a few free agents out there that could do a job.

It’s a team game. Ronaldo is the most talented player Man Utd have, yet they look a better team when he doesn’t play

Love his commitment but he will be targeted for his short fuse.
He kicked off against Bristol City coaches and already has 4 bookings.
After his last one he, was arguing with the ref

further to my previous post I'll add that at this point in time I think we are a fair bit weaker in the centre of defence. People shouldn't under-estimate the role Keogh played both in his positional sense and organisational ability which I think greatly helped Marv. I know it took a few games for Keogh to settle into the role and I hope Williams can do the same. But for me he's not had a good start.

You're conflating two separate things: prediction and retrospection. When we first got Crainey he may well have been poor for all we knew. As you say, when he turned out to be excellent we could laugh at what the Leeds fans had been saying. It's the same with Wright. Leicester fans are saying he's got good potential so it's reasonable to go with that view until we find out for ourselves.

I think CH is our weakest area right now. Could do with one of the free agents Appy is talking about being an experienced CH

I agree with this, needs to take a breath and a step back sometimes. Hopefully he will calm down as he gets more experienced.

I agree, although he was rocky in the first few games he soon became a leader and calm presence in defence. Interestingly, I checked and he only played 21 games for us, so less than half of our games last season. Make of that what you will.

I think weve bought some very talented creative players in this season my only concern is we dont have strikers that will score many goals.

When our midfield is settled and up and running as it should be I think the goals will come from our strikers if they’re played in their right position. Put Keshi/ Corbeanu on the left and poveda on the right instead of our strikers

One of the main reasons we dont score many is the amount of clearcut chances we dont have not half chances ,we will miss bowler but even when he had 3 men marking him we dont seem to be able to find any space when there should be, maybe to over reliant on one player ,hopefully these new players step up .

This 👍👍

Surely our regular c half J T should be in front of Williams for the next few games. At the moment Marv is taking flak that Keogh ironed out last year. He,s still learning .

Let’s be honest, we’ve no idea how good or bad any of the new signings are. I’d have preferred a little more experience to have come in as I find that EPL loanees tend to be vastly overrated and not fit for purpose - obviously there are always some exceptions.

But we may turn out to have the makings of some genuine talent that pushes us beyond the level that experienced - but fully developed- players could ever do.

Only time will tell. What I can’t bemoan is the club trying to cover all bases. The infrastructure needs to be improved too and unless we get a major change in finances, compromises have to be made.

He hasn’t had a good start but he’s been far better than what Marv has been bar one game.

I'd be getting Hubby or Thorny in there. Possibly Hubby cos he's more of a leader.

Lavery Yates and Madine. WIthout Bowler creating, I don't think this is very strong.
I think they will get plenty more chances and THEY will score more goals as more crosses and passes come in , I feel our new wing man whoever he may be ,will share the ball more, leading to a more confident strike force.

Are we more deluded than we realise?

Possibly?

A lot is riding on Poveda and he's a bit of an unknown quantity, Corbeanu has already scored 2 goals and should have started against Blackburn imo, he's also looked a bit "unbalanced" at times. I was very excited about Patino's performance at QPR before the injury, he looked hungry and his strength and ability to hold off players and move past them effortlessly was almost "Bowler level" in terms of him displaying an ability you don't usually see in a Blackpool team.

Big if but I honestly think Patino has the potential to completely break out and be a transformational player for us. Beyond that theres a lot of unknowns, Thompson looks like a keeper though.
