As of now...

1427 minutes in League One last season.

4 goals
1 assist
3 yellow cards
Very selective Voy. What about the running down time in the corners, the headers out from defending corners, the headers won up forward midfield. These big guys ( as with John Murphy), take lots of punishment supporting their team mates. He's no spring chicken but I think he's worth a punt this season.

I'd rather have let him go and put the money towards somebody like Piggot from Wimbledon but that doesn't seem to be the sort of transfer business we are doing.

of course he needs to be fully fit first but if he is he can have a big role to play either as a starter or as a plan B. A big target man is a vital cog in our squad.
It is but did it have to be Madine, I don't dislike him as a player but will he give enough games, goals and assists to justify a place in the squad, I'm not sure and would love to be proved wrong.

I accept your view but I felt he wasn't worth a punt. I do also accept though that Critch is a great coach who sees the whole picture and his decision is fine with me. He sees stuff I don't, clearly.

You're well ahead of me with your knowledge gjr69. If Piggot is that sort of player then I'll defer. I' m just saying what I see in Madine.

Like all of us Voy. No way am I trying to claim knowledge that you don't have.

"Burgess ended up doing a job at times but, like Madine, never really warranted a place."

Thought I'd just pick you up on this one whilst the going's good. Ben Burgess had a very accurate shot on him that looked powder puff but often found the net. Doncaster away - superb goal.

He's not that way ahead. it's one "g" and two "t"s in his surname. 😉

and probably so would I but I'd guess that Pigott has signed a deal at Ipswich which i reckon would be more than what Madine has been offered.

I remember the Burgess goal at Doncaster vividly, my mate had been slagging Burgess off all game and then he scored that goal, bloke stood in front of us turned round and gave my pal a load of abuse. Funny!!

I think you are probably right. Money talks and Ipswich and Sunderland probably still prepared to pay more than us.
That said we are in the Championship and they aren't so Blackpool FC are doing something right!!

That's why Madine was the easy option. Critch knows all about what he can do, he as such was already with us, and the deal offered suits both parties even though i'd guess Madine looked around for better offers.

An option like Madine isn’t going to be available if we are already baulking at paying £500k for Embleton.
