At what point are we in full support?

Interesting on our WhatsApp discussiion yesterday between about 12 Blackpool fans that the draw at Forest still isn't a turning point for some fans with Critch, in fact some suggesting yesterday highlighted his inability to get the players up for the shit games in League One however they can go to Forest and get a 2-0 lead.
Am wondering what it will take to get that back. Certainly a home win on Saturday and beat Wolves next week in the replay would be huge but will the turning point only come when we go to Brizzle Rovers in 2 weeks away from home and win a game?

Our ambitions are for promotion, so until we are in at least play off form, I doubt anyone will be in full support. I had massive doubts after the Burton and PV games, so it has been good to get 2 good results since. We need to follow that up with good results in the league against Exeter, Bristol Rovers and Charlton. Do that and I'm sure things will look a lot more promising.

We are playing Notts Forest in the replay next week.

Too many still crying over him leaving for Villa. Can't let go.

Yeah nothing to do with our complete failure to compete with League One dross away from home. People just use the Villa reason because it deflects away from the REAL problems fans are pissed off about.

Yesterday has no bearing whatsoever on Critchley's support. That will only change when he can work out how not to be so shit away from home in the league.

As I recall, we were shit away from home under Billy Ayre but he has godlike status because we were brilliant at Fortress Bloomfield.

Expectations were low. We should not be throwing in the towel before every away match. Burton and Port Vale were unacceptable along with many other away performances this season. We all know we have better quality players than the likes of Burton and Port Vale so why does it go horribly wrong? Something has seriously gone wrong somewhere.

Fair point, but Billy used to clench his fist before the games, whereas Critchley's demonstrative gestures are dependent on results. I think there is a widespread feeling that Critchley is not entirely trustworthy, and unwilling to accept responsibility for poor performances, while Billy Ayre spoke openly and honestly. Of course, there is potential mythologisation of both scenarios, but there is an interesting article in the Grauniad today about the relative importance of the analytical and emotional in football management, which makes interesting, and quite salient, reading

I think we just need to go on a decent run of victories which includes both home and away league games. So far this season we haven’t really managed to string a decent run of form together so as soon as there’s some positivity, it seems a negative result nips it in the bud

It will be really tough for some fans to get over what Critchley did, not helped that it has gone wrong massively since. If he was involved at Villa during there great 1/2 a season we’d probably just accept he’s better than us.

So he ends up coming back and I was more than happy, home form is more than solid if performances aren’t spectacular, although Tbf I think that’s what you get from him…. Solid. Away form is a massive concern especially against “poorer teams” we really should be imposing ourselves rather than lying down and getting tickled. We really do appear to play into every home teams hands, whether that’s confidence or purely the way we’re set up. Against Forrest they were always going to attack us and maybe that plays to our strengths that we can counter attack rather than spend time pointlessly passing it sideways & backwards.

I don’t know the answer tbh, we all think we know better but we generally don’t. He’s got his system and patently he’s sticking with something he believes in and drills the players in. A lot would love to see 442 and front our POV it looks like it would work perfectly but maybe a Manager believes it’s soo late in the season to change things and it’s too much of a risk…..again from the outside I believe it’s not too much of a risk as we’re never getting to the play offs as it’s stands so why not re-jig and start again.

You know what as well It may sounds absolutely mental but if we kept Rhodes I’d be tempted to try CJ up front with him in a 4-1-2-1-2 with Dembele feeding balls through. Think we’d look a lot more balanced and threatening

Grimmy

Gabriel
Ekpiteta
Casey
Lyons

Dougall

Morgan
Carey

Dembele

CJ
Rhodes

Tin hat with that line up and formation though!

People are aware that it’s possible to support the team whilst disliking the manager aren’t they? 🤣..hardly new is it….

I can assure you I wouldn’t be bothered about that if we were winning games against footballing powerhouses like Burton and Port Vale. But we’re not.

A portion of the blame has to go to our gutless players. Nice to see they could be bothered against a Premier League team though

I got why he left us the first time, I wasn't happy but understood it, and I welcomed him back with open arms when he came back. My doubts about him have been purely based on performances and his reluctance to change the formation. That would disappear if he improved our away form and got us into the top 6. Then he will have my full backing once again.

When we stop playing a horrible lop-sided formation and start playing four at the back and the players in their correct positions. No excuse for not having a back four now Gabriel is back but Critchley won’t change it. And when our terrible away form improves and we start giving creative players like Apter a chance.
This squad is good enough for promotion but I’m not convinced that is going to happen.

So if Apter plays who do you leave out?

To hold a grudge against Critchley for taking a Premier League job with loads of potential and undoubtedly way more cash is just daft. Oh, but of course he forgot to say goodbye...that's him finished, unforgivable. Aren't some footy fans just a bit shit?

Aren't footy fans a bit daft making things up. No one gives a crap about how he left or at best only a small minority. The only reason for the lack of support now is down to the performances and results not being good enough.

For once I agree with you. If we were top 6 and not being embarrassed away from home then very few would give a crap about how he left last time.

Would introduce him off the bench to replace a tiring Dembele on the right or Dale on the left in a 4-4-2. Just give him a chance to see what he can do in League One.
Fair shout, i just think the team are not in a position to just give him a chance, league 2 is a lot different to league 1

Give a rest please

Just get yer tickets, bring a bus load of friends, get Poulton Bus a few beers and bring him in your limousine and enjoy the fun

We need a full house, drummer Hoggy and every fan needs to push us into Round 4 at the top of their voices - I want to see The Tower shudder with the support and noise

I just wish we could one day have a bloody good Xmas where we win all our games - that time of year gives fans too much time to think and spew bile and with our lot, Critch couldn't have lost two back to back away games at a worse point of the year!

I am exceptionally disappointed in the performances at Cambridge, Burton and Port Vale and I do not put that down to the players. Forest was a much better performance and at the very least has restored my flagging moral somewhat, although off to Stevenage and my lad is going to Bristol Rovers. More crap performances may be rescued if we beat Forest mind you; but from now on its about results for me.

As all fans are but, that may not necessarily align with Sadlers ambitions.
Most pathetic statement ever.
If you think Simon has invested all that money, time and effort for us to wollow in the lower divisions of the football league then you are in cloud cuckoo land.
With (so called) supporters like you and ATG there will never ever be any show of full unity towards the owner and manager.

Cuthbert, the defeats you don’t put down to the players so who gets credit for the draw at Forest?
I only ask because it is the same group of players.

Fans pointed to Critchley's exit minus thanks, after signing a four-year deal.

It left doubts about his character, since compounded by rigidity in away defeats.

His preference to blame players, rather than admit errors, has weakened trust.

The coach would restore faith with on the road success that wins a playoff spot.

Intransigence on selections and tactics would forfeit promotion and support.

It was the way that they were set up and the opposition taking over the middle of the park and the lack of ability to respond. There was no faulting the effort of the players in these games; they performed their tasks; but the sum needs to add up to a whole and that is what is missing I am afraid on too many occasions. Even before the recent league slump away from home I have stated that even if Critchley gets up this season I would be looking for someone new in the championship; I think tactically is being outdone by too many managers who know his moves

Who gives a toss what some butt-hurt immature nobodies think about Critchley returning. They need to look at their own unhappiness in life and find the answers for it.

Couldn’t care less he left prior as 99% on here would have done the same. The manner he did it as a grown man does say something of his character but no one is perfect. Full support when I see him managing our club and utilizing all our resources to set us up to win to the best of our abilities. Instead I see a man who plays players out of position in formations that don’t play to their abilities and does not select his team on merit but rather upon his overblown ego.

Why can't the bar for supporting him be set lower/differently?
He's the manager of the football club I love, he's a decent enough guy, he's brought us some great times, and things are far from disastrously bad. That's enough for me
My support doesn't rest on whether I agree with his formation, or whether I like our patterns of play in midfield etc.. etc...
Support isn't demanding constant success and that everything is completely to my liking all the time

Pretty simple for me:

Whoever wears the tangerine out on the pitch, or whoever is on the side shouting instructions, will have my full support.

Has NC been perfect? Far from it. However, I do think their is a vast difference between critisizing some things he has and/or is is doing in a nice manner, versus bashing the guy or the club in general, just for the hell of it.

How do you know he’s a decent enough guy? You know him? No one asked for constant success or to my liking. I expect him to do his best with what he’s got and I don’t see that?
