Barrow away saturday

Close - You sailing there?
80 miles,160 there are and back, not Exactly close by😂and that’s from Bloomfield Road.
108 miles from my place so 216…..so I won’t be there needless to say.

But for those who do hope it’s a good day out for you all but you might need your umbrellas.

The other day I read that Northern expect to operating at a full service. All my trains from Manchester are running but when I've checked for my old man this morning there are no trains available from Blackpool North anymore.

Bit weird as he only needs to go to Preston then he'd be getting on my direct train from Manchester that passed through. Probably thrown a spanner in the works for us.

EDIT:
Not showing from Manchester now either so the service is obviously being affected. Shame, won't be able to go now!

Three of us going, with a pint in the Piel Island pub being the first stop.
Not the easiest to get to! You might have to settle for The Conical at the start of Roe Is Rd.

The Queens at Biggar Village on Walney Is is quite pleasant. I've only been in once when early for an appointment, thought I'd grab an orange juice and a sandwich. This was at 12.30 and I was met with 'I'll see if chef is still here, I think he might have gone home'. Pork scratchings it was then.

I’m going , I don’t know what time I’m setting off yet though, I imagine it will be around 12 ish.

Debating going. Want to relive my youth when I was a rising football star playing at the likes of Holker Street.
Only been to ( through) Barrow once to play a team called Barrow Hoopworks in the first round of the Lancashire Sunday Cup in
the early 70s. We played them on Walney Island and we won 9 0 (they weren't up to much) . I sulked all the way home because , as a
forward , I didn't score.

Yes, down to Roe Island and get the ferry - every 10 minutes. At least, that's my understanding.

Thanks for the heads up about The Queens.

BREAKING.....

I've just been on the phone to Barrow ticket office - a very helpful lady. She advised me to buy e-tickets whilst on the phone because the game is proving very popular.

I've ordered mine via the barrow website (for Blackpool fans).. I'm hoping I'll get tickets through the post? Ordered well over a week ago now

Sadly not going now due to train strike. Very annoying and shame for Barrows coffers but I've been twice before to watch us.

The Crown Hotel in North Scale on Walney is decent for beer and food. My mum met my dad in their in 1951
