Beckham

The bloke's a cash register. I could go on for hours about him TBH. I won't but seeing as the WC is now on, I'll say the best I ever saw him in an England shirt was the Greece game at OT, when he was excellent and carried the team through virtually on his own.

That aside, the quickest and furthest he moved in internationals was when England scored the type of goal that would allow a corner flag celebration - corner, free kick etc. Huge photo opportunity, he was always first on the back of the scorer, regardless of where he was on the pitch.

They're all working for the BBC who are just reporting on the World Cup in Qatar. Beckham is actually working as an ambassador FOR Qatar, being paid by the regime directly.

Obviously it's still a moral grey area for those reporting, but the difference in them and what Beckham is doing is massive.
 
England and the UK was once under a dictatorship that once stood for similar bigoted beliefs (lots of people living here still uphold those beliefs)... Qatar are maybe slightly behind us and the west, but maybe becks thinks he can go there and try and implement or facilitate some kind of change.

Or maybe that money smells tasty as fuck?

It's £150mil btw not 10 lol.

Not really... they all have a contract to be there. Including Beckham. Just coz Beckhams paid by Qatar, what's the difference? The rest are still promoting it. You're still watching it.

Literally hundreds of years ago. They seem to have managed to get up to date in driving cars and buying sophisticated weaponry and planes from us, but not bothered changing attitudes.
 
A former colleague of mine moved to Qatar this year to take up a job. He's in his late 20's, recently married and comes from a normal family in Grimsby. I assume he's also a disgrace for doing this?

yeah tend to agree. So many on here love to think they have the high moral ground. Yeah sure, it was perhaps not the wisest decision he's made but todays news will be tomorrows chip paper and it will be forgotten and they'll find something else to get all hot and bothered about. On the whole, he's been good for the game and a good ambassador for football.

I think everyone should take a step back and remember why the World Cup is being played in Qatar in Nov/Dec. The answer is FIFA and the corrupt system it employed to determine where the tournament is held. FIFA should be just an administrative body that exists to organise the games and make sure the tournament moves smoothly. Instead FIFA has become this huge political entity that still seems to be at least morally corrupt, hence it's pandering to an obscenely rich Qatar state with its medieval values.
