Best Male vocalist ever...

George Michael for me.
I saw his documentary and was amazed by his vocal prowess. I think all the pop stuff and image overshadowed this. Prince was in the same category.

No one think Mark Edward Smith 😁
“Hit The North”

Another one for Freddie Mercury - best ever!

And second (but a looooooong way behind Freddie) - George Michael.

Wow, only 2 people have mentioned Scott Walker. Comfortably top for me. Orbison up there too.

Also in terms of natural sound and technical ability, for me it has to be Michael McDonald, even if it's hard to take him seriously sometimes.

Best ROCK voice Ronnie James Dio by a country mile
Honourable mentions for Freddie Mercury, David Draiman (sang Disturbed sound of silence ) Robin Macauley, David Coverdale, Robert Plant, Phil Mogg, Paul Rodgers

Best Mainstream music voice Roy Orbison
Honourable mentions to Frank Sinatra, Scott Walker ,Johnny Nash, Smokey Robinson

I think you've got to make a distinction between best singer and best frontman. I'd always agree that Freddie was the best frontman ever, but best singer, no. He was good, but not that good.

RJD or Steve Perry for me. And a real left field entry, a bloke called Tony Martin who sang on a couple of Sabbath albums, amazing voice but apparently had all the stage persona of a coatstand so they didn't keep him on.

It depends how your judging it i guess i think someone like Nat king coal had an amazing voice but not keen on a lot of his songs George michael had a great voice from my younger days i loved Noddy holder so powerful in recent years i love Kelly jones from Stereophonics fantastic voice live or on record but there are so many great singers.,

If you are talking Front men with stage presence then Freddie Mercury, Bruce Dickenson(Iron Maiden) and Dee Snider (Twisted Sister)take some beating...Had the pleasure of seeing them all

I know this won't be a popular choice, but another of my favourites is Jimmy Somerville - I love his voice - did it ever break?!!

Another vote for Freddie Mercury. People talk about range, and he had that, but versatility, tone, live performance, depth. I can’t even see a contender.

Danny Bowes of thunder is pretty awesome if you want to go watch a current band though!
