I didn’t want to mention it as it’s getting tiresome now but 6,500 deaths of migrant workers in the 10 years since Qatar was awarded the World Cup there were even 2 deaths while the tournament was in full swing, gay rights, the list is endless.
And we all know why Qatar was awarded the World Cup in the first place don’t we Philip? 💰 💵 💴
Name me one other World Cup that had the same issues?

Like I've said several times there is no proof of that number and there is no proof that Qatar have done anything wrong to be awarded the WC

It was great. And as with the Russia World Cup, where England's attendances were abysmal considering it was a European World Cup, English fans have been robbed of another World Cup due to scaremongering and self righteous media coverage.

Even the biggest fraudster on the planet Sepp Blatter admitted not all that long ago Qatar shouldn’t have been awarded the World Cup.
Anyway keep living in denial but I rest my case on the subject.
Roll on Canada, USA, Mexico where people of any society will be able to do and say what they want and I’am sure thousands of migrants workers won’t be dying either and Budweiser won’t get stitched up.

Russia has well documented problems with gay rights and had very similar problems with construction workers for their world cup. So there's one. Mexico is currently having huge problems with homophobia in its football culture. Exploitation of Central and South American migrants is rife in the USA. And Sepp Blatter you mention actually wanted this tournament in the US and not Qatar!

It is very dangerous to start cherry picking at these issues as you will quickly find no one is clean enough to hold the tournament.

Best to go into things with an open heart and hope people learn from interacting with other cultures.

And that we get a great football tournament in the process. Which we have.
 
Would love to know how many people that vowed not to watch it, actually stuck to their guns. I know for a fact that my neighbour (who was adamant he wasn’t going to) came back from Booths with a crate of beer on the day of the England v Sonegal game and then friends started turning up at his house. Not that i was watching through the window or anything…

And I guess you do know that at several other major tournaments it's normal not to be able to buy alcohol in the Stadiums right

Argies hosted the tournament under a military junta, Spain awarded '82 when Franco was in power. Only last year, most of Europe were still suspending civil rights under the auspices of public health. I'm sure we could go on...
 
I have attended a good few World Cups and Euros.

This was by far the best organised tournament I have ever been to - although it also took some organising from a fan perspective.

The football was great, the locals were very friendly and unlike the press reported - many bars opened in the morning and stayed open until 3.00am every day.

Not having a beer at a football ground is hardly the end of the world.

Was It the greatest World Cup ever? - who knows - but it was a GREAT tournament and spectacle.

…and a bit of winter sun is always welcome 👍

Let’s get it to Australia and New Zealand in their summer as soon as possible.

Blatter said the world cup shouldn't have been held in Qatar because the country was too small to hold such a big event. He didn't say that it was corrupt because he and all the other FIFA officials had been bribed.[even though they may have]. So it's wrong of you to link that as a reason.

Is it a coincidence that the 2 PSG players sponsored by the Qataris got to the Final, or that Argentina had so many penalties during the tournament?

Yes. Or maybe the ref gave two penalties to France to help disguise his support of Argentina 🙄

It wasn't the best, it was decent but I prefer the world cups in the 80s when there was some mystery to teams such as Brazil, you'd never seen them before and they took your breath away. Each country had their own style of football, today its much of the same.
 
Like vast majority on this board, thought it was BRILLIANT and as for The Final, simply AMAZING.
